“Don't miss it”
Reviewed August 22, 2014

It's been awhile since we visited, but this is a spot you shouldn't miss when you are in San Antonio. We had lunch, which was tasty. There was a great craft beer selection! There is an extensive display of stuffed animals in the restaurant ... this may be off-putting to some, but for those of us who will never find ourselves "on the prairie," it's important to look at the animals that not only our forefathers faced on their way west, but that may no longer exist. The museum was so much fun. As some have noted, some of the displays are a bit dated, but the information is just fascinating ... even one on Bonnie and Clyde. We really liked all the facts on the Texas Rangers ... another group of law enforcement people who have dedicated their lives to keep their citizens safe. Once you finish here, don't miss The Alamo, just a few blocks away.

“Interesting Museum”
Reviewed August 21, 2014

Some of the displays were old and falling apart or dusty. Still a neat place to visit. My favorite was the last part of the tour with the little house that looks like it's almost turned over. They also had a little arcade type shooting game where I shot my first gun ever. Don't worry, it was fake. I do like that you can walk in and order a beer and walk around. Very laid back environment and friendly staff.

Wow, wow, wow, the Buckhorn museum and Texas Ranger Museum was AWESOME.... We especially enjoyed the Texas Ranger Museum most of all, because I am not fond of dead animal trophies, but it was amazing none the less!!!! Highly recommended!!!

“Fun time!”
Reviewed August 19, 2014

My hubby insisted we head on over here but I am glad we did. It was fun. There is a restaurant but we didn't eat there.

It's a short easy walk from the Alamo Plaza- perhaps 10 min tops?

Be sure to get a photo of your self with the replica of a GIANT elk that used to roam Europe. Thing is as big as an elephant!

The gift shop is a HOOT!. They pride themselves on unusual items and I can tell you there were thing in here I have never seen anywhere else.

“Great for locals and tourists”
Reviewed August 18, 2014

If you're a true history fan...this place is great. It's over 130 years old and houses some amazing animals (stuffed) from all over the world. It's one of those places you must check-out if you are in SA. The location is great, in the heart of the city, just 2 blocks from the Alamo.

The staff is always nice and there's some good food there too if you happen to get hungry after the tour.

It's also home to the Texas Ranger Museum and has lots of cool memorabilia.

It's definitely worth the $, unless you're just one of these people that doesn't know how to appreciate history and something different.

Perfect place to educate the kids too. A win-win for everyone.
