“Excellent stop nearby the Alamo”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 19, 2008

This place is loaded with stuff made out of antlers and more. It has the old west feel and the upstairs features a great museum. Some memorable things in here includes oddities- I seem to remember a two headed sheep and more. It was nice, not a must see, but definitely a good stop if you go by the Alamo. We didn't eat there so no idea about that.

“Gotta go here while in San Antonio”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 28, 2008

We loved this place! It was a very impressive & neat collection of animals. Just about any animal you can think of is displayed here. Not only that but they even have a greeter man who looks like they got him out of a time machine from the old west. Everything in this place was so cool. I would definitely recommend it, in fact I already have to quite a few people, especially kids.

“Forget the Alamo”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 26, 2007

I went to the buckhorn 3 years ago with my family and enjoyed every minute. If you like american history, wild life and beer this is the place for you. Kids seemed to enjoy the animals everywhere. You don't have to wait in lines and it's in the a.c. So after everyone is bored to near death at the alamo check out the buckhorn and savor a cold beer and some air conditioning. The gift shop was also unique. Wouldn't reccomend any animal rights people or vegetarians to the Buckhorn.

“Too pricey for what is offered”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 9, 2007

My family (my mother, sister and myself) visited the Buckhorn recently on a family vacation and toured the Texas Ranger Museum. We were not impressed. First of all we paid thirty five dollars for the three of us which we thought was quite pricey compared to other museums in the area. Second, there were quite a few artifacts but the readings that go along with the artifacts are quite dull and wordy. At the end of the (small) exhibit there is a model of some stores, a saloon and a jail that are cute but not that great. Younger children may enjoy this last section but it is definitely not worth the admission for just this last part. Overall, I would not visit this musuem again. It is definitely a tourist trap and way too pricey for what they have to offer.
