Owner description: The Paseo del Rio is San Antonio's favorite attraction. You can shop, dine, lounge in a cafe, or simply stroll along and let the strumming mariachi soothe your spirit.

“Don't miss the Riverwalk”
Reviewed August 3, 2014

In the 1930's after a devastating flood, the City of San Antonio decided to redesign the Riverwalk. Thanks to that decision, San Antonio has a shady and friendly river walk area surrounded by old and new hotels, and restaurants. The patio cafe restaurants are in the often shady and beautifully landscaped riverwalk. We most enjoyed the quieter Riverwalk during the week. On Thusdays and weekends the Riverwalk is very lively and you can hear or attend concerts. the Western Museum had a concert and food trucks! On the weekend the locals and the college students make the Riverwalk a lively and fun place to eat. If you like art don't miss the Villas.

“City planning done correctly”
Reviewed August 3, 2014 via mobile

The RiverWalk is simply a marvel to city planning done correctly. The RiverWalk obviously is synonymous w/ San Antonio and is the template other cities should follow. The walk is well maintained, has numerous restaurants to accommodate all tastes and ages. The hotels along the RiverWalk cater to the convention crowd & the tourists. The Alamo is within a couple of blocks. While shopping opportunities are limited on the actual walk, the River Center Mall makes up for it at the far end of the walk. The mall is by the convention center and has access to the water taxis, which I also recommend for an educational lesson on the history of the architecture, the San Antonio River & the RiverWalk.

Take the boat ride to see the full effects of the river as it winds through town. Nice restaurants and hotels as well as historic buildings.

“Beautiful 'Serene but bustling'!”
Reviewed August 3, 2014

Loved the Riverwalk.
Its mostly crowded on the narrow walk that is there around the river, but who can blame the people to come here in throngs, its beautiful!
And, really the pedestrian walk path is narrow on some sections, scary I suppose, so please keep the double side strollers at home, and use a tandem if you have to, I am sure people will appreciate and you will be in better frame of mind to enjoy !
All said, I loved the Riverwalk, the pedestrian walk cafes, restaurants give such a tremendous visual character to a city, I wish all cities could develop something on these lines (natural, or heck make it, Dubai' done such and better).
Kudos to San Antonion' to have it, kept it and managed it well !
and I'm jealous!

“OK for first time visitors, but overrated.”
Reviewed August 3, 2014

Have visited many times in the past as house quests want to visit San Antonio. Just one big restaurant path, and many of mediocre quality.
