very very crowded but it was 4th of July. Good for restaurants. Not great for shopping if that is what you are into. Be aware that many restaurants that state they are on riverwalk are actually above the riverwalk at street level

San Antonio Riverwalk, how very relaxing. By day or night, very pleasant. A credit to all that maintain the Riverwalk. It is very clean and very easy to navigate. With access to multiple Restaurants and a shopping centre it is an easy and delightful way to spend a day.

I absolutely loved the small town atmosphere at the River Walk. I've been talking about it to everyone since returning from San Antonio. It is an absolutely lovely place to sit and have some lunch or dinner, go for a walk or to take a ride on the river taxis. Although San Antonio can get very hot, there is a lot of shade and a lovely breeze blowing. If you sit by the mall at the end of the River Walk, you can hear the wonderful flute playing by some Indian group. I could sit there and listen to this forever. I am definitely returning.

San Antonio is 1 of the greatest cities to see, in my opinion, in the U.S. & of course, the famous River Walk is the main attraction; even though it is not the only one, by far! EVERYBODY should go to San Antonio, TX at least once! It has the "old West" feel to it, it is beautiful & romantic, it has wonderful shopping & the best restaurants along the river-walk, it has different cultures mixing, it has top fab hotels, it has Little Villita (means "Little Village in Spanish) just a few steps away. This was the 1st neighborhood in San Antonio. Now it's wonderful shops in all the little houses, has cobble-stone streets, the community well from the 1700's is still there, etc. Since I'm a history buff too, I just loved it! There's several very nice hotels, restaurants & the Mall on the River-walk. Oh & be sure to take the River-walk cruise 1st so you'll know what your looking at & where things are located. You can see The Alamo from the cruise. GO! Have fun....make memories!

Shopping and dining along the River Walk is required when in San Antonio. The River Walk is below street level, which isolates it from the downtown traffic. Very hot and crowded in the summer, so bring water or stop for drinks.
