Owner description: The Paseo del Rio is San Antonio's favorite attraction. You can shop, dine, lounge in a cafe, or simply stroll along and let the strumming mariachi soothe your spirit.

“A perennial favorite”
Reviewed October 13, 2012

What's not to like? A spirited, diverse, colorful and topographically unpredictable delight. Something for very nearly everyone. the windings, turns, splits, meanders and more turns make it especially interesting to explore. At night the lights on the water are quite magical.

“Pleasant stroll along the 'river'”
Reviewed October 13, 2012

The shadiness of the Riverwalk makes it a pleasant place to stroll but the sidewalks are too narrow for comfortable 2-way pedestrian traffic unless you're walking single-file, in which case it's difficult to have a conversation. Lots of restaurants along the Riverwalk, we ate at a few and were generally pleased. Very humid when the temperature is up, thank heavens for the breeze that was blowing on parts of it. Local folks along the route handy to direct you to points of interest or, in my case, to a convenient ATM. There was one less busy area of the Riverwalk which had quite a few people that looked dirty & unkempt loitering; we (two women) felt a little uneasy but just kept walking until we were past it, and we were fine, no one accosted us. (NW edge of the "horseshoe")

“Venice in Texas”
Reviewed October 12, 2012 via mobile

Although I have been to both places and seriously don't equate Venice to San Antonio, I still say that this River Walk is a place to visit for anyone. For a couple getting married, or the romantic, wow what a place. My wife and I visited and ate here several times throughout the week. I must warn that on weekends it is quite busy and hard to walk. The restaurants are full too. We did not go on the boats because we felt it was a little touristy.

“The Longer River is Better”
Reviewed October 11, 2012

The River Walk now has an extension that makes the water ride even better, including an experience rising in a lock and dam. The hotels, bars, restaurants and street entertainment make this a can't-miss when visiting San Antonio.

“Like Disney for adults”
Reviewed October 11, 2012

An oasis for those wanting to just sit back and sip a good margarita (or three.) Plenty of options for food and drink. Mature landscaping and regional architecture make it feel like it's been around for centuries.
