Owner description: With more than 8,500 animals on 56 acres, there's plenty of fun for the whole family. The San Antonio Zoo was first established with a donation from George W. Brackenridg in the 1800s. Two of the first cageless exhibits in the U.S. opened here in 1929 and the bird collection is one of the world's largest.

“A lovely day out”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 27, 2013

We loved the zoo at San Antonio. We were here to take our aged aunt on a stroll through the aquarium since she's a lover of animals. We remember her having her pet fish long time ago and this was just to get her to enjoy and relive her past. It's a worthy day out.

“Great zoo!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 27, 2013

Very affordable entrance fee with great exhibits. Great place for the whole family. The food is a little expensive as is typical of places like this. The zoo is very clean, and all the animals look healthy and happy.

“Best zoo yet!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 27, 2013 via mobile

In this past two months I have visited the OKC Zoo, Tulsa Zoo, Little Rock Zoo, El Paso zoo and now this zoo. I have to admit this was the best one.

They had a wide variety of animals, they weren't to expensive and the park set up was great. Not to mention the entire park outside the zoo that people can use to relax.

My favorite part was that it feels like they've set up a zoo inside the forest and you are walking through. Especially in the beginning of the zoo. It just feels like you are viewing the animals in the closest to their natural habitat as possible.

One thing that upset me, no lions!! But they did have two new baby tigers. It was great to see them play with their mother.

Overall I highly recommend this zoo!!!

“Mixing business with family time”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 26, 2013 via mobile

In SanAntonio for a conference and the zoo served as a nice retreat for me and my family. Not as large as some other zoos, but the habitats and and animals are varied and designed for children. Currently some construction but it didn't hinder us in any way. Food courts are a bit old but clean and fairly priced.

“A wonderful zoo to visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 22, 2013

This zoo has a large variety of animals to see with decent acreage for most of their exhibits. There are a lot of paths and it can be disorienting, but the staff is very polite and can help with directions. The only thing I would like to see is some more animal information on some of the exhibits. Definitely recommend visiting here if you pass through San Antonio.
