Owner description: Established in 1718 as Mission San Antonio de Valero, for over 300 years the former mission now known as the Alamo has been a crossroads of history. Having existed under six flags of independent nations and served as a garrison for five different armies, the Alamo has a rich history and a heritage to inspire Texans and people around the world. Although the Alamo is best known as the site of the 1836 Battle of the Alamo, all 300 years of Alamo history are vital to our story. Visitors can take a guided battlefield tour, rent a self-guided audio tour, walk through the historic Alamo Church and Long Barrack Museum, listen to a history talk given by an Alamo Interpreter, participate in living history demonstrations, watch a documentary on the history of the Alamo, and much more. Admission to the Alamo is free, but there is a charge for guided and audio tours.

The movies don't do the story justice as there is so much more to tell.
200 vs 6000
"Come and take it"
The 200 dead were burned and not buried.....
The Travis letter....

Come see it and you will NOT be disappointed.

I went to the Alamo on a special invitation to view the Travis Letter earlier this year. It was such an honor. I am getting my paperwork done to fully join the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and I have so much gratitude for those early founders of Texas who helped make Texas the great state it is today. The grounds of the Alamo are amazing. The Alamo itself is a Texas shrine. It is so special every time I go.

One of the most hallowed and historic sites in America, the Alamo is American History 101. The admission is free and while the main mission is stark in exhibits you can feel the history and hear the heart beats of the courageous men who gave their lives for Texas independence. The gift shop is very nice selling everything from replica muskets to every book about the Alamo you can imagine. If you want to live history, visit the Alamo.

Visited on a Monday afternoon so it wasn't too crowded. You can purchase an audio tour or catch a guided tour. It was crowded inside as it isn't a large building to begin with. I probably would have enjoyed the guided tour better, but I would have to wait an hour and a half for the next one. Not much too see inside. Overall enjoyed my visit.
