This is a beautiful home, and it was used as Allison's home in the movie Hocus Pocus. For that reason alone it is a must see even if its just to stand in front of it, and recall the magic of that movie.
It was not open when I stopped by, but the gardens in the back were open to the public. Beautiful gardens are always a reason to stop!

The Ropes Mansion is beautifully charming. From the gorgeous grounds to the adorable lady that greeted us at the front door, it was just a pleasant experience. I am better for having toured this beautiful mansion.

We were very surprised to find that there was no charge to tour this lovely, restored mansion and beautiful garden. The tour guides are very knowledgeable and obviously love the house. It is rare to find a museum like this with much of the last owners' belongings and furniture still in place. I didn't want to leave the garden it was so peaceful and beautiful there.

A beautiful mansion open to the public which burned and was reopened to the public about 7 years ago. The gardens are beautiful and not to be missed. One of the free things to do in Salem.

I was so excited to see this was opened to the public and free! Gorgeous house! It is self guided but the people that were there gave a introduction and were very knowledgeable and answered questions! So much history and cool stuff in this home! The gardens alone are something worth seeing!
