Loved the quaintness and charm of the inn. We are Australian and enjoy the snow so this, coupled with the peace and atmosphere gave us a wonderful holiday we wil never forget.Would highly recommend the Salem inn to those who are looking for a romantic break and/or appreciate old world charm(and an open fireplace in your room).

Myself and a girlfriend stayed at the Salem Inn this past September. It was very conveniently located and had a parking lot right behind the yellow house we stayed in. I dont remember the name of the house.....Kurwin possibly? Our room with a king bed was on the 2nd floor. We woke up way too late to try the breakfast so I cannot comment on that. But everything was just fine...would stay there again!

Dear klbc1977,
It was very kind of you to take the time to submit a 4 star review to TripAdvisor. It’s great you were able to sleep late – that speaks to the comfort of our beds and guestrooms. However, next time hopefully you will wake in time to try our breakfast buffet as well.
Yours truly, Diane Pabich

We stayed there for two nights. It was comfortable, but not worth more than two stars. Breakfast was frazzled and disorganized. They were booked and not prepared. Kept on running out of coffee -- not enough seats in the breakfast room. I would stay there again if I had to, but if I didn't have to, I would stay elsewhere.

Dear Deb M.
No one on our staff at the Salem Inn can understand your review. The February week-end you stayed with us, the Inn was less than half-full, typical of our off-season.
I do not believe we have ever run out of coffee, and our breakfast staff is very experienced, capable, and organized. We get kudos on our expansive continental breakfast and have never heard your comments before. We are sorry if you found this to be the case.

My partner and I stayed at the Salem inn for our honeymoon in October 2012. If you want New England charm in witch
city, then this is the place to stay.

Our room was in the beautiful and historic curwen house. The room glowed with ambience, boasting it's period features and decor. The bed was very comfortable and the room was spacious and spotlessly clean. The bathroom was very nice and had all the toiletries you needed for a stay.

Breakfast was so hearty, homely and full of choice. Delicious !!! The breakfast room was delightful and a great place to meet like minded people.

Sadly my partner and I were only able to stay 3 out of 9 days booked as we had an urgent called from England and had to return as my mother was taken very ill. She passed away on our return.

The staff were very kind and helped us all they could with travel arrangements back home and offered any further assistance that we needed at this most difficult time. The inn kindly sent us a voucher for a 4 day break to return by May 2013 but, we cannot use it due to work commitments.

We are now delighted and very excited to say we have just rebooked to stay again at the inn, in October, to finish off our honeymoon, just as mom would have wanted.

Blessed Be to all at Salem Inn x

Dear Worldly Wonders,
We sincerely thank you for your extensive and complimentary review. We and our staff try very hard to please and it is so rewarding when our guests not only enjoy and appreciate our Inn and staff, but also share this with others. I’m so sorry to learn of the sad circumstance which required you to shorten your trip and travel home. Please accept my heartfelt condolences.
We are pleased to learn that you plan to visit again next October, and we look forward to welcoming you.

This was a great New Year's getaway for us. The inn was very charming with an antique feel but with modern amenities. We stayed in the West House, in one of the Honeymoon Suites, on the third floor with a fireplace and whirlpool tub. I opted for a two night stay with one of the "Relax and Renew" packages, which included a complimentary bottle of champagne and 2 flute glasses that we could keep. This was greatly appreciated as we enjoyed it and watched the ball drop next to our working fireplace.
There were a few things glitchy with our room, but nothing that would make me not return. The bathroom door's doorknob didn't work, so the door didn't really close all the way, the heater in the room was temperamental and refused to turn off when it got to the set temperature or didn't come on when it went below it, and the breakfast was held in the basement, but you had to go outside to get there. But for the price, especially over New Year's, these things were easily overlooked as we enjoyed our time in Salem.

Dear Biker/Ware Wolf,
Thank you for recommending one of our special packages which you appreciated during your New Year get-away. The packages we offer are a very good value, and we feature attractions and/or restaurants which our guests enjoy, as well as offering special in-room amenities. Thank you also for alerting us to a couple of glitches you encountered during your stay, which we have looked into and hopefully rectified.
Over the years, we have often thought it would be nice if there were a way to connect the upper floors of the Captain West House with the lover level breakfast room, particularly in inclement weather. However, our 178 year old historic brick building precludes an easy solution. At least our breakfast entry is only a few steps away, and leads to a very cozy area to dine.
We look forward to your return visit, and please check out the many different packages we offer.
Yours truly, Diane Pabich

My husband and parents spent a night at the Salem Inn in the two bedroom apartment on the top floor of the Peabody House. We liked the central location, sandwiched between the McIntire Historic District and the downtown area. We could walk to the PEM and along Essex Street and over to First Church very easily. While the buildings are old, the inn has lots of charming touches to go with the modern essentials, like the decanters of sherry in the communal living rooms in each of their three buildings. We liked the conveniences of our apartment because we wanted the kitchen facilities. I would recommend this apartment to any family travelling with children because of the central living room with dining table and because each of the two bedrooms has its own bathroom. The breakfast is provided in the main building for all the inn guests, and there was something for everyone at the breakfast. Our options included fruit, yogurt, cereal, pastries, breads, and a quiche, plus coffee, tea, and juice. All the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: The rooms that front on Summer Street (Route 114) do have a lot of street noise.

We stayed here for one night. The hotel in Summer Street is in a great location for visiting all the attractions of Salem. It seems a really small quaint little town centre

The room was large and had a good bathroom and Jacuzzi bath, lots of towels. The bed was comfy and we slept really well in a room at the back of the hotel.

The staff were really helpful and went out of thier way to make sure you were comfortable.

Breakfast was great, they call it a continental breakfast. But it was really nice.
