“A great view of Salem”
Reviewed August 5, 2013

We stayed at the Salem Waterfront Inn for two nights and were very impressed overall. The hotel is still relatively new, and it shows. The decor is elegant and tasteful with fresh flowers daily in the lobby (I had expected them to be plastic - they smelled amazing as we got off the elevator each morning!) Our room was roomy and well-appointed. The bathroom was spacious, with lots of fresh towels, and toiletries are great. The staff are friendly, helpful and very efficient. We had breakfast in the Regatta Pub both mornings, and our wait staff were excellent. I had eggs Benedict with crab cakes that were amazing one morning, and a great shrimp and corn chowder the next night. Perfect after a day at Good Harbour beach, when we were too tired to go far from the hotel. There are numerous restaurants and shops directly behind the hotel which were handy. My only complaint is that I asked for a harbourview and was told that all the rooms with queen sized beds tend to be at the far end of the hotel, so I'd likely have a partial view of the water. Instead, I had a lovely view of the parking lot and the drive through bank directly across the parking lot. Not a big deal - I spent most of our time in Salem outside walking around, and the view from the Harbour walk more than makes up for it.

Room Tip: If you want a water view, be sure to confirm that upon booking. If you book online, you can take adv...

Traveling with someone in a wheelchair is a challenge in trying to find a hotel that truly is wheelchair accessible. The Salem Waterfront Hotel did everything right. We booked a junior suite. It had a single king-size bed that was a normal height! [At other hotels we've found that you had to be a mountain climber to get into their beds in accessible rooms--an impossible task if you're wheelchair-bound.] The room was spacious--wheeling around in it was easy. We knew the room did not have a roll-in shower, but the bathtub had low sides. In additiion, the staff were very friendly and helpful--the desk clerk helped us get luggage from our car and a member of the housekeeping staff volunteered to help get our luggage to the lobby as she saw us in the hallway. Moreover, the hotel has a great location, ample parking, and breakfast service in their restaurant was friendly and food was good.

This hotel has a lovely location right next to Pickering's Wharf and within walking distance of many of Salem's attractions. The group facilities have lots of windows which are appreciated by summertime meeting attendees! The rooms are spacious and prove to be a great value for the money.

All we can say is that this hotel is a must stay for anyone in Salem. The lobby is welcoming and the front desk staff are warm and friendly. The cleanliness of the room was top notch. Your staff does a great job, however Sheila stood out and was just fantastic and made us feel like we were at a Ritz-Carlton. I hope you realize you have an asset and how i wish i could make her agree to relocate. The pub food was delicious and Meagan was great as well. Kudos to your staff they are the foundation of your hotel.

Stayed here on many occasions and it is by far the best hotel in Salem and surrounding area with good sized rooms, good facilities and on the main really helpful staff. Our trip was sadly spoiled by useless cleaning staff. When on holiday we like breakfast at 9am and then go back to the room to get ready for the day and leave around 10am. We then return around 4pm for a rest and freshen up before going out to dinner. Each day of our stay we returned to find our room had not been cleaned and had to complain to get it done, meaning we had to go and sit in reception for half an our until the room was cleaned. On second day cleaners left a surly letter saying that if we left our do not disturb sign on the door until 12 noon the room would not be cleaned. Each day our do not disturb was removed by 10am but still the room was not cleaned.
Spoilt a really good stay and means I will not be recommending this hotel to others.

Room Tip: Don't take a room by the lifts and those at the back of the hotel can be noisy with people livin...

We loved the location and restaurants at the Wharf. The staff was friendly, helpful and very customer oriented. We loved the goodies, extra towels for teenaged girls. Clean king suite, just wish there was a door blind on the french door for parents to have privacy from teens. We enjoyed the soft beds but the girls did say they wish the sofa bed was more comfy..
We were able to see all our family from Georgetown, Marblehead and Andover from this great area. We enjoyed the walkable shops & Salem With Museum too. This is our #1 hotel we will always stay at when visiting our Boston clan:) My daughters and I enjoyed Finz and Vic's music ( 8 piece band with horns!) & drinks were fantastic to catch up with old friends. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

The moment you walk in you know it is going to be good. The lobby looks good and smells good. The staff at the front desk is friendly and efficient. You are welcomed with baked goods and lemonade in the foyer every afternoon.. Everything says that the manager gives great attention to details:
Sfaff in the parking lot helping , housekeeping sweeping the dead petals from the flower baskets outside. Fresh flowers in the lobby. Fresh smell everywhere. Clean, clean, clean.
Then we got to our room: King size bed and a great view. Everyday we came back to a room that was so clean and looking forward to see what beautiful creation our wonderful housekeeper Erika had made with our towels: monkey, elephant, alligator, turtle, swans etc.. she put real pride in her work.
There was always plenty of very nice supplies in the bathroom.
We had also mentionned that we were celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary when we reserved and they took note of it. We came back the first night to find a beautiful tray of cheese, crackers, veggies and dip and a chilled bottle of champagne with two flutes with a lovely card. So thoughtful.
The staff at the front desk is so nice. Thank you Ryan and Katie for being so friendly and making our week so enjoyable. It was always a pleasure to talk to all of you.
We had reserved at the Hawthorne a couple years ago and between the Hawthorne and the Salem Waterfront there is no comparison. The Hawthorne is old and smells old.
To all the staff at Salem Waterfront: thank you and we will be back next summer for another week of pampering.

Room Tip: Room 401 is a great room for a couple.Corner room; very large and sunny with a king size bed; .
