“Best Popcorn on North Shore!”
Reviewed March 17, 2014

This place has been around the Willows since it started 100yrs ago I believe. It has homemade ice cream, which is excellent, popcorn bars in all flavors, homemade taffy, and the best popcorn you will ever taste. Atmosphere is right on the water overlooking Salem Willows pier.

“Best Popcorn Ever! Terrific views & home made ice-cream & taffy”
Reviewed January 14, 2014

I've been going to Hobbs for a very long time, we used to go every Sunday after sailing. Frappes, hot dogs & hamburgers were the items of choice. In later years I took English friends there who were so impressed by the honesty of the place, it is what it is, no pretense. Remember being entranced watching the salt water taffy being made, wondering when it was going to fall off the machine, it never did. Now I go for the summer breezes, the hot dogs, hamburgers, frappes, home made ice cream & the popcorn. Oh yes, there are roasted peanuts too. It's delightful, bygone era, still here. Some of the tables predate my time there, which goes to the 50's. Happily it's still run by a Hobbs, the third generation I've known. Not exactly Norman Rockwell, but along that line. When pharmacies had soda fountains, that sort of thing.
