Description: Located in the Old London Coffee House, which dates back to the 1700s, Red’s Sandwich Shop has been visited by many Celebrities, Congressman, Senators and even First Lady Barbara Bush. A relaxed, friendlly atmosphere in a historic building is the perfect place to join Salem locals for the BEST breafkast and lunch menu in town. The food is delicious, all home-style cooking at pricing so reasonable you almost feel guilty. Having visited numerous restaurants in Salem that charge outrageous pricing for mediocre food, Red's Sandwich Shop is the crown jewel of the city in terms of excellent food, great prices, and a lovely environment with a friendly staff. They offer an extensive breakfast and lunch menu, Dinner Specials, and a daily $6.95 Special.. And when they say roasted turkey, they mean roasted turkey -- whole turkeys are roasted on the premises and carved for your order. In a tribute to Thanksgiving, their Home Style Turkey Sandwich (roasted turkey, dressing, cranberry sauce and gravy) is out of this world! Wonderful specialty items from Chicken Marsala and Chicken Piccata to Chicken Pot Pie are made to order. Soups and chowders made fresh daily. For a variety of sandwiches from open-faced, to club, to roll-ups -- they cannot be beat. Red's is an award-winning restaurant that received the "BEST BREAKFAST ON THE NORTH SHORE" award for 24 years in a row! I cannot rave enough about this restaurant. If you have only one restaruant to visit in Salem, make it Red's.

The servings are VERY generous. The wait staff is courteous and ready to take your order. Tip: order ONE pancake, they are the size of the plates!!!

Hit this place up for breakfast after hearing "go to where the locals go" and was kicking myself for not having gone sooner! Its bigger than what you think it is from the outside, and actually looks like a diner inside as opposed to the "little red house" it looks like from the sidewalk. The food is yummy, service is good and quick and friendly. As far as I noticed this place opens up for breakfast and lunch and closes early-so worth is and would definitely recommend.

We wanted a place to eat a late breakfast around 11am. We were told by a local about Red's. Fortunately the line was not that long, and got seated in about 15 minutes. While in line, talked to some locals who came here all the time and gained some knowledge about their offerings. Ordered 2 eggs with toast and ham. Included was a mound of cottage potatoes. My plate was a mound of food, all tasting great ($5.50). I saw their famous blueberry pancakes go by (I bet 12" wide, so you only need 1), and French toast, 4 slices of Texas toast sized bread fried to perfection. The coffee was great, too. Service was friendly and constant.

The outside made it look small but once you walk through the doors the place was huge with lots of seating. The menu was great with lots of choices. I'd highly recommend the Mac and cheese but only order a half or you'll be eating a lot! The service was quick which was important to maximize our day.

This restaurant is fantastic after a long drive. The line was out the door when we first arrived but we were seated within 5 minutes. The pancakes and breakfast potatos are to die for! It is obvious that Red's is a hangout for the locals but I never felt unwelcome. Salem is probably one of the friendliest vacation spots I've ever been to and Red's is a must!
