“Fantastic Time!”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

My husband and I recently stayed at the Morning Glory B&B and had an amazing time. Although our host, Bob, was not able to be there, his wonderful parents filled in for him and did a fantastic job! We were made to feel like family from the first moment that we walked through the door. They were very helpful and friendly. The property itself is absolutely gorgeous and very central to everything! Thanks for an incredible time!

All the best,
Donna & Paul Von Zuben

Room Tip: All the rooms are lovely, but the Sarah Good room is a suite, which has it's own sitting room as...

We arrived in Salem on a beautiful day and were thrilled with the location. You can walk everywhere from here, which we did. The House of the Seven Gables is a few yards away, as is the harbor and the ferry to Boston is just down the street. It took us 5 minutes to walk there. The room was clean and beautiful. Everything we needed was right there. We did not meet our hosts as they were away but we did meet the one host's parents who were watching the B&B. They were lovely people, very nice, warm and friendly. The only negative aspect of the stay is that the breakfast was a bit boring if you compare it to B&Bs we've stayed at the actually make breakfast. If you are ok with yogurt, fruit, cereal, muffins and bread for breakfast that is fine, but we were doing a lot of walking and activities and would have enjoyed some protein!

Thank you very much for submitting your lovely review of your stay here at Morning Glory! So happy to read that you found the location of our B&B perfect - a stones throw from beautiful Salem Harbor, the Salem Ferry, House of the Seven Gables and beautiful Pickering Wharf, just to name a few attractions. Thank you for your compliments as well on the warm welcome and hospitality of my parents. Hopefully you will return again so that I can meet you both! Until then, I send you my very best!

Warm regards,
Bob

This was our first try at a Bed and Breakfast and we were very much surprised how great it was. Bob's Dad and Mom were our hosts for the three nights we stayed in the Elizabeth Howe room. (Unfortunately we had to leave a day early). The room was neat, clean, cozy and comfortable. A/C, ceiling fan, TV and WiFi are just a few of the amenities we enjoyed. But, you absolutely need to try the pastries that are home cooked in the AM. I could have pigged out all day. Private off street parking, big enough for my F150. The Howe room has it's own outside entrance with porch equipped with table and chairs and a lovely view of the Harbor. Want a better view, go up a few steps to the rooftop patio. Right next to the House of Seven Gables and only a couple of blocks to the Derby Pier and Custom House. Go a couple of blocks the other way and enjoy a 45 minute ferry ride to Boston for the day. A Great Value!!

The trolley is nice, and with it raining it got us to the Witch Museum. The Witch Museum was okay, but very touristy. It was funny watching all the kids. But they really rush you through the place so we didn't get a chance to read anything. With one of my great grandmothers being one who died in prison during the witch trials, I would have liked to spent more time exploring her life in Salem. Read up on the trials before you go and gain more insight then you will there.

The restaurants and shops around the Pedestrian Mall , close to the Witch Museum were the best and fairly priced. The restaurants and the stores in the sections near the harbor adjacent to the Derby Pier called Pickering were a little pricey.

Very interesting and if we go back, we will be sure to stay at the Morning Glory again.

Room Tip: As far as I could tell they were all good. But I think the Elizabeth Howe room was the most conveni...

We stayed in Rebecca Nurse room and it was very comfortable with lots of charm. There is a communal sitting room on the same floor which has a fridge and general computer. The wifi is a good link too. The location is perfect and an easy walk to the whole of Salem and near lots of restaurants. Breakfasts are lovely with homemade scones and pastries. The hosts - Bob's parents - were wonderfully helpful.

For our third trip to Morning Glory we stayed in the Sarah Goode suite. This is an incredibly comfortable, private room. It occupies the entire third floor of the original house. A large bedroom with a queen-sized bed, large chair, wardrobe, and two dressers occupies one end of the suite. A large sitting room separated by the bathroom comprises the other end of the suite. The sitting room has a huge sofa and two large chairs, the television, a coffee maker, and a small (dorm sized) refrigerator. Both rooms have their own air conditioner. The suite opens to the third floor deck with tables and lounge chairs. We have never seen anyone else up there except for the 4th of July.

There are two considerations about the suite. If you must have a bathtub this is not for you. The bathroom has only a large, comfortable shower stall. It's not like the typical contortionist phone booth often found in Europe. But you do need to coordinate with your partner on your location when the other occupies the bathroom.

You can not watch television from the bed as the only tv is in the sitting room.

Otherwise all the other amenities of Morning Glory prevail. There is the great location, wonderful breakfast, and the friendly, charming hosts Bob and Marcel.

Many, many thanks rkorchid for your splendid review of your third stay with us at Morning Glory! Stretched out on one of the many recliners on the third floor roof deck truly is a front row seat to take in the magnificent 4th of July fireworks! The amazing spray of color from this unbelievable display of celebration seems so close, you could reach out and touch them! Thank you for your kind words and we hope to see you again next year for yet another spectacular July 4th in Salem! Until then, we send you both our very best!

Warm regards,
Bob & Marcel
