Recently, we spent the long weekend in Salem and Marblehead to enjoy the history, galleries and restaurants. The two days we spent in Salem were terrific and we did wear some fun costumes. It was great to see all the people enjoying this historic town and visiting the unique shops. The highlight of our trip was doing this evening ghost walk tour. We chose Salem Historic Tours after reading various reviews and talking to some friends. The 90 minute tour was great as it was comprehensive and informative. The route we took added to the fun and eerie quality of the tour. Our tour guide, Giovanni, was especially excellent as he shared many stories, facts and background information. He clearly was well versed in the town's history. He had a great sense of humor and he always asked if there were any questions at each spot we stopped at. He also peppered his tour with related information like movie sets and conversations he has shared with the descendants of the various families who shaped the town. He shed an eerie light on The Lady in the Blue Dress who dominates a large painting hanging in Rockafellas Restaurant where we had eaten and enjoyed a seasonal spiked cider. Needless to say we just had a memorable experience in both towns and are so happy to have gone on a tour that pulled a lot together for us. We highly recommend it.
