“Very Tasty Food with a Friendly Atmosphere.”
Reviewed October 8, 2012

My husband and I had a fun lunch at Gulu-Gulu. We shared the beer sampler, the hummus & veggie plate and the meat & cheese sampler. Everthing was fresh and delicious!

“A Fun Place”
Reviewed October 8, 2012

I would definitely recommend stopping here for great coffee and desserts. The food was great, the atmosphere was fun and they had a great beer list! We had stopped for apps throughout Salem and this was the capper as we had amazing desserts and beers here. Kind of trendy and a younger crowd but certainly worth coming to try the great menu.

“We were very disappointed...”
Reviewed October 5, 2012

We went for lunch after a costumed lady in the street raved about it. We went in and the first impression was that it wasn't the cleanest restaurant, by any means. Perhaps the dingyness and unkempt appearance was supposed to be part of the atmosphere? I doubt it. We ordered the hummus and veggie plate for an appetizer and when we saw it, we had no desire to eat it. The veggies were not fresh. The dried up green peppers and the five shriveled, tiny, unpeeled cucumbers slices both had areas that we had to cut away. The plate also included celery, which was fine, and small pieces of flatbread but this appetizer was absolutely lacking in quality and taste. My lunch itself was a meditteranean veggie wrap that was mediocre and had the same not fresh veggies. The other lunch was a chicken salad wrap - which my boyfriend enjoyed very much. The waitress was very nice and offered great service. But we regretted choosing this restaurant due to the lack of freshness mentioned and for that reason, we will not return.

“Great food, surprising atmosphere”
Reviewed October 1, 2012

We weren't sure what to expect when going to Gulu Gulu for dinner, only that it had lots of good reviews. It turned out to be what seemed like a coffee shop that got a liquor license. Lots of good beers. The meat and cheese selection was EXCELLENT. Our favorite part. Try the strawberry-Nutella crepe, it was amazing. Went at 9pm on a Sunday, and it was still packed. The service wasn't amazing, but you could tell she was busy, and still got the job done. Definitely a place to check out on your trip to Salem.

“Fun Restaurant”
Reviewed September 22, 2012

We went for lunch and were seated promptly by a lovely young woman. I ordered the turkey sandwich and my husband ordered the cheese and meat selection. We both enjoyed our meals. The staff is very hardworking and busy, but are able to take care of their clients.
