We werent sure if we wanted to tour the home initially but on the recommodation of a museum guide we stopped over for the last tour of the evening. The history of the home and the numerous changes and the seemingly influence by Nathaniel Hawthorne's writing revealed several secret passages and wine storage areas? Nathaniel's childhood home has been moved to the property and it, too, has a sad story when Nathaniels father died at an early, age and the family was forced to move out of themhouse. Also, you will learn why the spelling of the last name was changed to distance the association from other family members who were involved with the Salem Witch Hunt.

The grounds are beautiful and the architecture from the era is amazing. The tour was informative, but I wish there was more to it. This is one of the better sites in Salem.

Adored the Spirits play. The young man at the end was an absolute stand out, who portrayed the "odd" photographer with an unbelievable style. Frankly I expect to see him in future he's wonderfully talented!

Extremely informative tour, I personally love Hawthorne so I might have found it to be more interesting in the tour than most would. Had the chance to learn a lot about architecture of that time and also a little about Hawthorne himself. Found the tour to be very interesting and the house itself is preserved in very good condition. Must stop by!
