“A great museum!”
Reviewed March 20, 2013

I have recommended this place to so many people - not just tourists! The revolving exhibits are always worth seeing. The permanent exhibits are worth revisiting. Always fun to come with someone new and show them around.

“Exceptional museum, fascinating anthropological exhibits”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

Exceptional museum. Permanent collection includes anthropological items from all over the world from colonial etc. shipping expeditions, hundreds of magnificent pictures of the great 19th windjammers and so much more. Changing exhibits are usually marvelous - some Native American-related, reflecting US folk art and many cultures.

“Beautiful museum with new exibits all the time”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

I went during the Ansel Adams exibit that they had. These museum is absolutely the best one in Salem. It is a maritime museum so no hokey witch stuff. If you want a museum that gives you the other part of Salem's history (there was a non-witch related maritime history) this is the one to go to.

“love this place!”
Reviewed March 9, 2013

so glad we made the side trip to Salem to see this lovely museum after reading the great reviews. loved the modern Indian and Nick Cave sound suit exhibits. The Yin Yu Tang house (Qing Dynasty) was an amazing step back in time and a tribute to the dedication of the curators..
even the gift shop was a place of beauty. a gem of a museum...worth a visit!

“'Any weather, rain or shine great take in”
Reviewed March 8, 2013

great take in, rain or shine. Can spend a few hours in the morning taking in all the show displays, They do change the exhibits regulary. Stop and take in a light light at the museum cafe. Parking is only a few steps away in the parking deck. You can just relax here for as long as you'd like, get away from the bustle of life.
