The Peabody Essex Museum is a quite the place to visit. I go quite often for the fabulous visiting exhibits. The most recent exhibit was the Ansel Adams Water & Streams event. Most people do not know that you can obtain a discount pass for up to 4 people at your local library. Check it out !

The Museum is true to its description. It is NOT a place to go if you are expecting a place to find accurate historical information on Salem's history. The exhibits are informative and interesting

We really enjoyed the museum, though it really isn't as "large" as they tout. The house from China is wonderful, worth the extra $5.

The Peabody Essex grew out of museums focused on whaling, the China Trade of the 19th century, Yankee life north of Boston, and a terrific collection of art, asian, and maritime objects. The museum is not overwhelming, but rather has sufficient scale to present each element well without overwhelming the visitor. A must see!

Great displays, docent tours are very informative and interesting. I would have spent much longer here but my time was limited.
