I stay at this property once a week, and was able to stay in one of the newly remodeled rooms on my last visit. Wow what a great job they did updating and modernizing these rooms. Can't wait to see one of the new suites. Love this place.

Room Tip: The new rooms are in the A building with a golf course room. I prefer the H building with a beautifu...

I would rate this resort higher, however when they say it is being renovated, ask them how far have they progressed. I actually saw no evidence of renovation, or it was so little I did not recognize it. The entire complex is dated. The furniture in the lobby is chipped, the carpeting in the rooms is drab, the entire complex is simply worn out. Ask yourself how bad does a resort get before corporate decides to renovate, that's La Paloma today.

That being my biggest issue, I can say the rest was great. Huge lobby, expansive grounds, a multitude of facilities, outstanding number of pools and well equipped health club and the Tucson weather makes this a fine resort. The longer you wait, the more is redone with the renovation, but I think they are way behind schedule.

The staff are great at the reception desk, however don;t judge the friendliness at the door. The Bellhop station/valets are business only and must have gotten their sensitivity training from another hotel chain. It wasn't just one person. Pleasant and helpful are not words I would use to describe them.

The resort is beautiful with a pool view (and outdoor cafe) view is of the Santa Catalina mountains. It is breathtaking and magnificent. The hotel is really a series of connected two story clustered buildings for the guest rooms, all a fair walking distance from the lobby or main portion of the hotel. The grounds are landscaped for the walk to your room, but that could be renovated too.

I would probably return there in the future after a renovation completion, but I would not stay away based on its current state, especially once you know what your getting. There is wear and tear and old, but it is very clean and the rooms are spacious.

Room Tip: Ask for a room they have recently renovated, as of October 2012, that is in one building only.

Stayed for two nights as a getaway though with kids (2 year old and infant). As others had noted the rooms are dated as I seem to remember similar style when we stayed about 15 years ago with family, however other reviewers have noted they are renovating. Rooms are spread out though it's not that far of a walk and makes it nicer with the many small buildings as opposed to one mega-structure. As SPG Gold's on points (Cat 3 7,000 pts/night) we were given the top floor in the C cuilding which had great golf course views. No resort fee charged on our redemption bookings either and picked free I ternet as our Gold Amenity, also no charge for infant crib or rollaway. Self parking is free or $15 for valet. Room was quite large fitting the crib and rollaway fine and also had a fridge and microwave which are usually only seen in budget properties these days (or the fridge is stocked with $8 cans of Coke).

Staff was top notch, everyone from check-in to pool to bell boys were happy to help. Kids enjoyed the pools and drinks and food while busy at the pool were great. A really beautiful property in Tucson that will be even better after renovated rooms are finished, wouldn't hesitate to return.

Room Tip: C building has great views and top floor is also nice to lessen noise from other guests.

Wow , where do I start???? After check in we had a very long walk to get to our room which was located farthest from the lobby (building D). Next day we discovered a golf cart service but were not told about this at check in.
As we entered our room we noticed a sewer-like stench but figured it was from being closed up for so long, so we opened the sliding door and aired it out. The room was very very dated. The separate shower was so old, dark and dingy, we were actually afraid to use it. We thought it was quiet and peaceful until we discover the hotel rents out outside areas and we had to listen to a loud speaker blaring some banquet MC in the evening.
The next day we went by the pool which was nice until we noticed the dirty, grimy side of the pool we were leaning on that looked like it had not been cleaned in years!
The smell in our room never went away and we asked about changing but were told nonewere available. I just hope we
don't get sick! So we checked out and left. We are so disappointed with the lack of help from
the front desk help. We chose Westin because of the great stays at pevious Westins across the country but sadly will not return unless major changes are made here.

This was really a great place to stay--terrific, comfortable and spacious rooms, amazing service, good restaurant and bar, nice pool and other great amenities. The only negative from my perspective is it is pretty far from downtown Tucson and other areas you might want to visit, so you definitely need a car. But if your goal is to stay at the resort and enjoy it, this hotel would be hard to beat.

Room Tip: Ask for a mountain view

Sure, there are other hotels with beautiful locations, character and great food but it would take something to top the service level and attention to detail that I experienced recently when working a conference at the Westin La Paloma in Tucson. Nothing was too much trouble and there was always someone at hand at any given moment to asist in any way required or to make a seemingly large problem dissolve into a small challenge. One member of the hotel staff stood out amongst a great team: Banquet Manager, Peter Mnatzaganian. His tireless energy and indefatigable good humor was fundemental in ensuring a flawless program for our client and his attitude was paramount in motivating our team when" the going got tough". His overall performance epitomises the warm welcome and thoroughly professional operation on which you can rely at the Westin La Paloma, Tucson.
I should also give a mention to the stunningly beautiful La Paloma Golf Course and the efficiency with which the staff there contributed to a well-organised and enjoyable tournament. The Tournament Coordinator, Brian Roluffs' enthusiam made for a fun, upbeat and smoothly executed afternoon on this pristinely kept course.
