I stayed here for business because I prefer mid-class hotels--they generally provide better service than 4 stars and save me a lot of money. The internet was free and easy, the room was meticulous and spacious. Staff was a real surprise--some of the nicest front desk folks I've come across. Breakfast was easy and the hot waffles are great.

I was at meetings most of the day, but at night, the hotel was mostly filled with families & kids who were a little loud, but never obnoxious. If you are a very light sleeper or bothered by kids, this is not the place for you, but having said that, it was a great stay, and I'd happily go back.

One surprise was the relative lack of nearby restaurants. Even though the hotel is in a beautique shopping center, there is only one restaurant and it's really a wine bar. You will have to drive a couple of miles to get to another restaurant.

Windmill is a nice quiet hotel in the north end of Tucson. I had a short stay and was impressed by the competent staff and accomodations. I recommend it. There are several nice restaurants nearby.

The Windmill is a beautiful and immaculate hotel with extremely reasonable prices. The setting in St. Phillips Plaza is charming with boutiques and restaurants. The swimming pool area is lovely and relaxing. The staff is courteous and kind, and when our air conditioner wasn't cool enough, maintenace came to the room and fixed it immediately. Computer access is free in a room off the lobby. We were in Tucson for a wedding, and all of us loved this hotel.

We stayed at the Windmill Inns and Suites in Tucson over Thanksgiving week, for $109 per night. In other years, we had stayed at the InnSuites on North Oracle Rd., and had been pleased. But the Windmill for this week was coming in cheaper for 4 people, two rooms (bedroom with 2 double beds, living room with double sofa bed). The bathroom in between the tiny kitchen area and the bedroom was very convenient for the person sleeping on the LR sofa to use without waking up those in the bedroom. The kitchen was only a refrigerator and microwave, coffee maker, with no utensils, but still came in handy. The breakfast buffet was fine, but not as extensive as the InnSuites on Oracle Rd. The front desk staff were very nice, but could not accommodate a request for a mattress pad for the sofa bed, which was uncomfortable for an older adult (probably would have been fine for kids who aren't as arthritic). Ended up purchasing a $100 three inch memory foam mattress pad from Sam's Club that made the sofa bed very comfortable. Having two TVs (one in LR, one in BR) was great, and doors between LR and BR closed fine to reduce any noise between the rooms. Room was on third floor overlooking the dry Rillito River, which made for beautiful sunset views. Very convenient access to the nice walking/biking trails along the river, but also led to one night of loud parties in the parking lot along the river which kept us awake. Security for hotel needs to patrol more. Small fitness room with treadmill was fine. Never had a chance to use the outdoor pool. Unlike the InnSuites, there was no free computer access in the lobby, you had to use the business office. Location near Catalina Mtns was very nice. Easy to get to by Orange Grove exit from freeway, then quick right on River Rd. to Campbell, on NE corner of intersection. To get to Sabino Canyon and Mt. Lemmon just take River Rd. east, beautiful drive. Bring water when walking along the river; south side of the river bank is prettier, fewer bikes and nicer view of mountains.
