“Dirty and tired”
Reviewed May 4, 2011

The rooms have been renovated and not very well done. Towels were old, same as sheets and furniture. Had to stay here on business, will never stay again. Pool area looked like it had missing canopies and the towels provided were not worthy of drying off my car.

Thank you for your review. Our rooms received new furniture, wall paper, new large screen flat panel TVs and construction (new closets, marble and granite entry, new bathroom showers), etc. Most guests have given us positive feedback on the look of the rooms; we're disappointed your room did not not meet your tastes.

Our staff takes pride in maintaining and cleaning our guest rooms. In March, we received a rigorous Hilton quality inspection that rates the quality of the sleeping room conditions and the cleanliness of the rooms and we scored very well--in the top 10% of all Hiltons. Our staff is always working to improve our rooms for our guests.

Our towels and sheets are part of Hilton's Serenity Bed and Serenity Bath collections and have very strict standards. We apologize that they did not meet your expectations.

We always like to make our guests happy and the best part of our day is hearing guests tell us that they will "see us next trip!" We are sorry we fell short of the mark with you.

We got a great price at this hotel and were very happy with it. The room was clean and looked good, and the beds were really comfortable. The bathroom wasn't large but was definitely sufficient, and the bath sink/shelves looked updated and were really nice. The big window in the front of the hotel is impressive and makes a nice view when you're riding in the elevator, and they had free wi-fi that worked well. The pool isn't very big, but the pool area is beautiful. If you want to sit outside, this is a great place to do it! I would stay here again and would recommend it to others.

I have been visiting this hotel for years. It was recently remodeled but is not apparent. We were given a bigger room upon check in but it was disgusting. After traveling all day on Easter, who has the energy to complain? The room had a living room and a balcony. The balcony door was so old that it took huge muscles to get open. The balcony chairs were old and black. The living room sofa was old and stained. We put towels down to sit. The carpets were pretty beat up as well. Wore our flip flops any time we had to move about the room.
The best thing about this hotel is Stephen the bellman. He is always so nice and kind and makes me feel at home when I visit. I hope that Hilton makes it up to the 7th floor to continue renovations! It seems a shame to put people on the executive level with this sort of appearance.

Alice, thank you for your feedback. Hilton guest history shows you have more than a dozen stays with us and we thank you for your loyalty. Our Front Desk Director was happy to give you a complimentary upgrade into a Terrace Suite the morning you checked in so that you could get in early. We are so sorry our effort to please you was not successful.

During your Suite's renovation, it received all new carpet, wall coverings, 2 large flat panel TVs, new construction in the bathroom (glass showers), new closet, marble and tile entry, cordless phone, to mention just a few of the renovations. The 7th Floor Executive Lounge was also renovated with new furniture, granite counters, serving area (the area where the complimentary continental breakfast and manager's reception is held).

Since your stay, we put all 8 Terrace Suites through the rigorous deep cleaning program. We're sorry we disappointed you. We are thankful that you appreciate our friendly staff; we feel they are truly our finest asset. We hope you give us the opportunity to exceed your expectations the next time you travel to Tucson.

I've stayed before. Very clean hotel, as has been said by others, not sure why people have issues with the rooms. TV's, carpeting, etc have been upgraded. Bathrooms aren't much, typical mid level Hilton/Doubletree type. Parking is great. The neighborhood is better than most of the hotels not located in the foothills. I had an issue with check in, where the woman at the checkin checked me in but didn't enter into the computer, so even though I stalled around town for another hour my room wasn't ready at 4 because the data input wasn't done. Hotel management took responsibility, mistakes are going to happen. I'll be staying again.

Room Tip: Executive floor amenities OK, better for 2 people

Thank you for your review. We appreciate your comments concerning your sleeping room, cleanliness, parking, the staff and our value!

Unlike other hotel chains, the Hilton brand does not allow its Hilton hotels to encourage or reward a guest for putting a review on independent websites. The Hilton brand uses guest scores as a measurement of a hotel's performance, so Hilton runs and controls its own guest evaluation program. Due to this fact, the majority of our hotel's evaluations come through the Hilton system (which is very thorough and allows each guest to rate the hotel on 70 different aspects of their stay). The great thing about Hilton guest evaluations is that they include the guest history. And their contact information so I can reimburse them directly or send them a gift certificate--or contact them via email for personalized service. We truly do work hard to answer each question, resolve any issue and continuously improve.

We're also rigorously inspected several times a year by professional Hilton inspectors on our facilities and cleanliness and our March scores place us in the top 10% of all Hilton hotels. We're so proud that you noticed how clean your room was.

The vast majority of our guests agree with you--that the Hilton Tucson East a great hotel at a great value.

I had nothing but good experiences here. The front desk staff were more than helpful at every request. And the room I had was obviously upgraded more recently than many other reviews here led me to expect. WiFi was a little slow, but free in the room, so can't complain. I did not use the pool, so can't speak to that. I did a good bit of price shopping before choosing this Hilton, and the prices here were comparable. I was not disappointed.

Listed as three and a half stars by Priceline. This is an older hotel but clean and suitable if you don't plan on spending slot of time in your room.
Breakfast was expensive and nothing special but the waitstaff Was very pleasant.
Easily accessible location but if yo're looking for high end accommodations look elsewhere.

Thank you for your review. We are sorry that our hotel did not meet your expectations. With our renovations all complete and our cleanliness program in place earning us scores in the top 10% of all Hilton hotels, we are really disappointed that we did not Wow you.

We're sorry you thought breakfast was too expensive. We also offer plated breakfast entrees that are priced very reasonably ($7 to $10 each) in case a guest does not want the huge all-you-can eat breakfast buffet.

Thank you for your appreciative words concerning the pleasant attitude of our staff.

The bed was great in the suite - that was the only positive thing I can say.

The rooms are old, and the furniture is worn out looking. We rented two suites and were very disappointed (almost $1000 for 2 nights/2 rooms - not the brand value that a Hilton should have).

On the patio - 1 chair with burn holes in it.

The TV reception was very poor in the bedroom.

The shower head had so much calcium build up that it I wasn't able to switch the water pressure.

Front desk reception didn't seem very interested in our stay one way or another - after phoning for wine glasses to be delivered to the room we ended going down to get them ourselves.

The 6th floor ice machine was broken.

The breakfast and happy hour selection is on par with the Days Inn - has about the same amount of seating too.

The restaurant in the HIlton is more like a diner - and the food is horribly salty.

Although a windy day, no one bothered to clean the pool or hot tub of leaves.

Overall, not what you would expect from a Hilton Hotel - stay somewhere else!!

Thank you for your review. We apologize for not meeting and exceeding your expectations. Our 8 Terrace Suites received new furniture, wall coverings, new construction (closets, all new bathroom showers with glass doors and new fixtures, marble and granite entry), and new large screen flat panel TVs during the renovation. The overall reaction from travelers about the new look of the rooms has been positive; we are disappointed that your Suite did not meet your tastes.

We take pride in our rooms and their cleanliness--in March we received a rigorous Hilton quality inspection which rates our sleeping room conditions and their cleanliness--and our hotel scored extremely well--in the top 10% of all Hilton Hotels.

We are sorry that there was a burn mark on your terrace furniture and that none of the restaurant meals appealed to you--we hope you mentioned this during your meal so Chef could prepare an entree to your specifications or offer a special meal. We want everyone to have a great tasting meal and we enjoy the opportunity to please our guests.

You felt that your Suite rate was "insane." For economical rates, we encourage guests to book their stays in advance using the advance purchase discount. The best value is our standard room rate; although some guests say the Executive Level as the best value because those rooms are on a private key access floor, include complimentary deluxe continental breakfast, complimentary evening manager's reception, cordless phones, nightly turn down service and nightly snacks.

We hope you will contact Hilton reservations when planning your next trip to Tucson so we can ensure your reservation meets your travel, room and budget needs.
