Overall good hotel, very scenic. Not a lot directly around the hotel (except for mountain and desert trails), however restaurants, etc. a short drive away. Stayed here for a conference, and conference rooms, etc. were good.

We like the Hilton chain, but this resort is fantastic.
Great reception and welcoming.
Very nice room with balcony over looking the pool. All facilities including golf were available.
Knowledgeable and helpful concierge suggested sites of interest and provided excellent directions.
Great off season deal: $168/night for two with 3 full meals per day and included resort fee.

Room Tip: Avoid the main building Both pool and distant mountain views are very nice.

Nice resort for weekend get away. Clean rooms. Restaurant for dinner great food and service. Only problem was golf course on site was closed didn't know until we got there. Also had tennis tournament all weekend which took up all courts. If you want to play golf and tennis check with resort to make sure you will be able to play.

The staff was so friendly with excellent service and took very good care of us from the moment we arrived. The property is beautiful but it was the staff really made our stay exceptional. Kevin is a bell captain and he was taking me back to my casita when I mentioned that I wanted to take home a piece of wood which is really dried out old cactus rib. He took me on a tour of the property in the golf cart in search of a piece of this. Kevin pointed out the various types of trees, cactus, flowers and talked about the wildlife. He made the visit exceptional and yes, he found the cactus wood that I was looking for!

Room Tip: The October nights are a bit chilly, you may want to bring a light jacket.

Nice hotel but looks like the rooms are out of the 70's with a few updates. Hallways smell like smoke and are very noisy. Nice pool and pretty view. Business center has two computers which don't allow for quick access to boarding passes.

This is my third stay at the Hilton El conquistador. I have thoroughly enjoyed every visit. The pool area is exceptional and the spa facilities are more than adequate. I recommend staying in a casita. The price premium over a standard room is very modest, compared to the many additional comfort features.

We stayed at this hotel over Labor Day weekend. We had a fantastic visit. The property is lovely but it was the staff everywhere we went who really made it an exceptional visit.

We were upgraded to a one-bedroom casita - what a lovely surprise. Because it was Labor Day weekend, the hotel was incredibly busy on Saturday and Sunday. But the casita we were in had it's own pool and spa and most of the time we had it to ourselves. It was wonderfully relaxing.

The casita was spacious and well-appointed, with a small kitchenette area that had a small fridge and coffee maker. The living room/dining area was huge - would be perfect for a family.

We went to Epazote restaurant every night. We tried something off the menu all three nights and it was all outstanding. I don't normally eat tomatoes because they have no flavor, but the tomato salad was sooooo good, as was the southwestern wedge salad. I tried the shrimp skewer for a main course, and my boyfriend had the pork chop - both were delicious.

An example of the outstanding, friendly service was the second night at Epazote. We ate at the bar and I looked over the dessert menu. There were two young men tending bar. I wanted something sweet but not too much, so I said "Don't you have a cookie or something?" One bartender said no, but the other said "Yes, let me show you (the other bartender) how to do it." Turns out the hotel offers warm cookies and milk on their room service menu, so they ordered them for us, walked to the other restaurant to get them and delivered them to us at the bar. Now that's service! The restaurant manager walked by a bit later and said "That's the best dessert I've seen all night - how did you manage that!?"

The hotel is located quite a ways off the highway, so it's very quiet. The view as you drive up the road is stunning with a big mountain right behind the resort. There are plenty of off-property dining choices within a 10-20 minute drive as well, many of them highly rated. If you have kids, they had tons of kid-friendly activities over Labor Day weekend, including an outdoor movie, games in the pool, etc. There is a water slide, a shallow pool perfect for little ones, and a restaurant right at the pool for lunch and snacks.

We definitely plan on returning to this hotel for another stay - it's some of the best service Hilton has given us to date.

Room Tip: If you want a quiet location, try to get a casita. They are located down a fairly steep hill, but th...
