Hilton Tucson El Conquistador Golf & Tennis Resort

This resort is a lovely property & the common areas (lobby, grounds, restaurant) are gorgeous. Service is quite good. The tennis courts are immaculate. My only deduction on the rating is because after all that, the rooms themselves are a bit "meh". Clean but slightly tired & a bit dated. Bathroom was pretty small and not very well laid out (sink kindof blocks your reach to the shower faucet). Still, overall experience was near excellent.

We stayed at this hotel using points, so I'm not sure if I'd have been less thrilled to pay "resort" prices for a "holiday inn" room....

Room Tip: Courtyard rooms will "face the pool", but be careful -- ours (in building 1) actually face...

The resort is located below the distinctive and beautiful Tucson Pusch Ridge. El Con is our favorite Tucson resort. We occupied a Jr Suite which is spacious and nicely decorated. The friendliness of staff and service was great. Would definitely stay here again.

The El Conquistador has a beautiful location against the mountains in a beautiful desert setting. It provided a feeling of a real vacation for my guests who were in for a wedding held next door. The event planner helped us with a rehearsal dinner and post wedding breakfasts that worked out beautifully and with little effort on our part.

This is my go-to when I am in town for business. The grounds are beautiful, the staff are friendly, and the food is delicious. Try the hamburger! The corporate rate we get makes this a very affordable luxury hotel. Building 2 residents have the best view of the mountains and the pool. Very nice practice green located in the courtyard.

We stayed there (two adults and one 12 year old) April 15th to April 19th. We had a great time. We had the resort to ourselves for the first few days and it only got mildly crowded the last two days. The Bell staff was awesome! Always there to hold the door open and arrange for transportation. We had a few laughs with them as well. The lobby is large and has a Starbucks coffee bar with cheap refills if you brought back your cup. We only at the resort for the breakfast buffet which was small but good and the pool bars where the menu is limited but everything we ate was good. Soda refills at the pool were free. Also did room service one night which was excellent.

We stayed in a Casita which had no view to speak of but some do. One bedroom, pull out couch in the living room, fireplace with a duraflame and a microwave and fridge. They do have a private adults only hot tub and pool which we didn't use. We spent our time at the main pool, main jacuzzi and water slide pool. There is also a large kids area with spraying water and kids stuff. The main pool temp was a little cool but the air temp was only in the mid 70's which made it feel cool.

The resort has a $20 per room per day resort fee which includes towells, golf club rentals, use of putting greens ans driving range for an hour per day. Good WiFi in the rooms is also included. The pool WiFi was spotty but they were installing additional WiFi antennas at the pool the day we left.

When we return to Tucson we will stay here!

Grounds are well kept. Rooms are wider than normal, lending to more walk space. Quiet floors. The hotel was full, especially on the weekend, but it never seemed crowded. What topped it for me was the customer service. One morning while walking to the patio after buying my coffee and a muffin, the muffin sack ripped and my muffin fell to the ground. An employee noticed my mishap and went back to the Starbucks bar and got me a fresh muffin. Very nice! You just can't beat great customer service!

I recently spent a week at the resort playing golf. It was a delightful week with only rare exceptions. My Jr. Suite was spacious, clean, well furnished and had a great view of the court yard and pool but was still very quiet. When I first checked in the A/C was not working properly and after a phone call to the desk engineering had it working great within an hour. Housekeeping was very good although a little late getting done a few days but this was not a major problem.

The restaurant was much better this year since it was renovated and changed to a SW theme. The bar/ lounge was very nice as were the breakfast/lunch and pool venues. All areas offer both indoor and patio dining. The employees were all well trained and customer friendly.

The only drawback is the distance to the golf club. The 9 hole course is next to the hotel and well kept up. The regular golf club with two 18 hole courses is a 10 to 12 minute ride which is not bad but arranging shuttle times can be a bit disconcerting since they don't run on a regular schedule which would be a better idea. One day when this inconvenienced me for about an hour I politely approached the manager at the hotel when I got back. The golf club manager had already notified her. She was very apologetic and when I got back to my room there was already a complimentary cheese/fruit plate and a bottle of wine. The course conditions were good when taking into account this is change over season for the grasses on the course with rye transitioning to Bermuda. The golf club/restaurant is very nice and the professional staff are friendly and excellent teachers especially at the Hilton Golf Academy.
