We took the Ventana Canyon trailhead to Maiden Pools. Per the Sierra Club, it is 4.8 miles long (round trip) and takes 3 hours. It might take professional hikers 3 hours and I indeed saw some hikers running on the trail like mountain goats. It took us 2 hours and 10 minutes to reach the top of the ridge. Once we reached the top of the ridge, it only took about 10 minutes to get to the pools and the trail is flat. The trail to the top of the ridge is pretty steep for the last 30 minutes. Once you get there, the view is spectacular and it is a great reward for the hike. It took us more than 1.5 hours to come down. Take plenty of water and some food with you. There is no bathroom facility on the trail.
