“Ideal Oasis for your Tucson visit”
Reviewed May 25, 2014

The hostess, Patti, makes you feel right at home at El Presidio. The courtyard offers such a delightful respite from the city heat, and the birds love to visit there, too. Inside, our room was actually 2 rooms: the comfortable bedroom with a well-supplied bathroom, and also a lovely reading room! The breakfasts Patti made were amazing! One morning she fixed banana stuffed croissants and the next she fixed the most marvelous ginger pancakes. Both mornings, Patti also made the accompanying syrups as well as a unique and flavorful egg dish! This B&B would be a great place to stay in any location, but it's right in the heart of Historic Tucson...very convenient. Next trip to Tucson, we will plan on staying there again!

The inn is lovely, and the large, enclosed courtyard is a true oasis, but the best part by far is your delightful hostess, Patti. She is so friendly and caring...and a good cook too! A different, gourmet breakfast is served every morning in plentiful portions. My husband especially enjoyed the heaping plate of bacon that accompanied the main courses. The courtyard is a pleasant place to spend the morning and evening watching birds and enjoying the peaceful sounds of the fountain. We have stayed here twice and look forward to staying again soon!

First of all, there's the location. El Presidio is located on quiet streets in old town Tucson and is a perfect base for exploring old Tucson on foot. Don't miss the reconstruction of the original Presidio. The Tucson Museum of Art is a few blocks away as are some excellent restaurants. Cars may be parked outside (with a permit that will be provided) on Franklin.

The B&B comprises four rooms/suites, each of which is quite different, and charming in its own way. The accommodation, which is extremely comfortable and well equipped, opens out onto a wonderful courtyard. This is a magic space, where you can sit in the shade of trees and enjoy the many plants as well as the many birds that visit the flowers and fountain.

If you are not sold on El Presidio yet, then we'll mention Patti, the owner--she is wonderful! From her very warm welcome when you arrive, Patti tirelessly aims to cater to the needs of her guests. Her aim is to make you feel at home--and she certainly does that. In addition to the wonderful (and, as others have mentioned) ample breakfasts, Patti provides snacks and drinks in the room.

We could not recommend El Presidio more highly.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Carriage House and the Gate House, both of which have well-equipped small kitchens...

My wife and I feel sorry for anyone who stays in Tucson & doesn't stay at El Presidio.
Not only is the house beautiful & full of interesting treasures, the rooms are comfortable with everything you could wish for to make your stay an absolute pleasure.
Patti the owner is the perfect host, greeting us & checking our likes & dislikes for breakfast (We recommend her home made ginger pancakes with lemon sauce) One morning she made Eggs Benedict which was the best we have ever tasted. Patti has a great knowledge of the area & is more than happy to advise with restaurant recommendations & places to see. We travelled over 2000 miles after leaving Tucson & stayed in some great places but Patti & El Presidio topped the lot. We stayed in the Victorian Suite, (but I doubt there is a bad room). We were mainly interested in the Sonora desert experience and found El Presidio with its perfectly restored old buildings and beautiful garden a perfect oasis to relax after a day of hiking. We thoroughly enjoyed our spacious appartment and great breakfasts - watching hummingbirds enjoying their nectar breakfast as well - but most importantly, Patti Toci is a perfect host who made us feel like visiting family rather than staying at a commercial enterprise. Excellent value, highly recommended!

The space is beautiful, in old town in Tucson- loved the location and had lots of fun at the breakfast table with the other guests. The art and antiques are delightful, and the house and grounds have been restored and maintained in a delightful way.

This is a real gem of a B&B. The courtyard is totally private and just filled with plants and flowers. Patti is a wonderful host and her breakfasts are not to be believed. It is in the Presidio district and is an easy 7 block walk to the Convention Center or the Opera.
