“Experience Old Tucson”
Reviewed February 22, 2012

We recenly spent 4 nights at the El Presidio. Just walking through the old wooden gate and into the enclosed courtyard relaxed us - with its stone patio, fountain, flowering plants and trees. Our room opened directly into the courtyard and it was a joy to step out our door and have a glass of wine sitting in the quiet, enclosed courtyard. One feels very secure in this facility.
Patti is a very welcoming host and her breakfasts leave no room for lunch. She also thoughtfully stocks the room with snacks and drinks. We even had a small, well-equiped kitchen as part of our room.
Location is perfect for walking in the historic district as well as downtown; road traffic in the area is surprisingly light. Highly recommended.

I recently had the opportunity to stay at the El Presidio for a couple of days. It's a secluded oasis in the heart of the historic district, in downtown Tucson. Our cozy cottage was so comfortable, and just outside was a warm courtyard, totally surrounded by lush plantings and trees. When we arrived for our first breakfast other guests were raving about the previous mouth watering meals served. After sampling the gourmet entrees served that morning, I understood their exuberance. This charming B&B made it difficult to leave for our next destination. Patti is a wonderful host, and is helpful in every way possible. It was a true joy to meet Patti and enjoy her accommodations.

We stayed for 3 nights in late January in the carriage house. Accommodations are inside a lovely courtyard with flowers and a very tall Mesquite tree. The owner, Patti Toci, attends to every detail, providing bottled water, snacks, etc. The carriage house was beautifully decorated, with a separate sitting room. The pictures on the website give you an idea of the surroundings but cannot do justice as to how nice everything really is. When the weather cooperates, outside seating is available to enjoy the beautiful views. Patti is also very helpful in recommending restaurants or other activities in the area. The location is in the historic area and just a block or two from a great Mexican restaurant, El Charro. The prices are inclusive of tax and very reasonable for such a quality accommodation. As other reviews state, the breakfasts are fantastic, beginning with fresh fruit and followed by french toast, some type of egg dish, and either bacon or sausage.

We are repeat customers of this gracious and charming Bed and Breakfast. Built in 1886 and kept in immaculate condition, you will step back in time and slow yourself down. Devastatingly great hot breakfasts. Today was banana stuffed croissant french toast, eggs with baby potatoes, and bacon. Yum! It is also very reasonably priced for a top tier, full service experience that is in the heart of the Presidio Historic Disctrict!

After reading the previous reviews we were really looking forward to our stay with Patti, we were halfway through a 3 week tour of the area. What a delight to stay in this beautiful home. We stayed two nights in the coach-house, full of beautiful furniture and china, what a change from all the hotel rooms. The garden was beautiful by day, but magical at night when the lights came on. Pattie is a wonderful host and a great cook, and it would have been so easy to spend all day just chatting to her. We arrived as strangers and left as friends and hope one day to go back.

We would like to be original, but what can we say apart from what was already said? Cathy is a very charmant person, her breakfast is delicious, her house is very comfortable, cosy, has a beautiful garden and is very well located. We recommend El Presidio to everybody. Martha+Olivier

We think this is the best B&B we have ever stayed in; the facilities were wonderful; our room was actually an apartment with a separate living room/kitchen area, all beautifully decorated and as clean and comfortable as can be. The outdoor courtyard was landscaped beautifully with plenty of seats and was a lovely place to read and talk about our adventures of the day. Patti was a great host; we had special dietary needs and she made us delicious breakfasts every day that were perfect for us; she also gave us great insights into the city and things to do. The location can't be beat; walking distance to all downtown attractions, including plenty of great restaurants and bars. We had a great time and will be coming back to Tucson and look forward to staying here again!

Room Tip: Coach House was a great choice.
