“Paradise in the desert!”
Reviewed December 17, 2004

The best of all worlds -- right in the middle of the desert, but luxurious and near everything. Pure comfort in the nicely appointed rooms, or the separate multi-room casita, with its private patio and hot tub under the stars. A delicious breakfast that is just right; and very pleasant and helpful - but not overbearing - hosts. We wouldn't stay anywhere else when we visit Tucson!

From the private spa at our casita, we had 180 degree views of the mountains that ring Tucson. The sunsets were amazing. From our patio, we watched javelinas daily and listened to the coyotes nightly. We were fortunate to spend 31 days at this B&B, and we can tell you that this hacienda has elements that are usually seen only in the top hotels in the world. The sleep is unequalled thanks to a multitude of down pillows, a wonderful mattress, and a top blanket enveloped in fine linens. The hosts, David and Rosemary, not only are meticulous in caring for the guests, they are like having personal vacation advisors. The nature trail on the property, the national park across the road, the fountains, and those wonderful resident cats all contributed to an incredible experience.

We have stayed at numerous B&Bs over the years, but this was the first that was better than we anticiapted. Being our first trip to Tucson, we were uncertain as to what to expect. After arriving at our desert oasis, it was hard to leave. The accommodations were wonderful, spacious inside and out. Private patios, swings, spas and moonlit nights made for very relaxing evenings under the stars. The owners, David & Rosemary treated us and all the other guest like family. They advised us on activities, restaurants and shared their tales of life on the desert. Everyone should experience this relaxing retreat at least once in their lifetime!

We stayed here for 2 nights a couple of years ago and liked it so well that we planned a 10 day vacation around this place.
First of all, the innkeepers are great. They not only provide delicious breakfasts, but both are willing to share a wealth of area history and maps for sightseeing. The Saguaro Cactus National Park is minutes away for a morning hike or run. We enjoyed our evenings on the patio watching the hummingbirds, javelina, playful cats and some of the most beautiful desert sunsets we've seen.
For a peaceful, relaxing vacation, this place can't be topped.
We plan to revisit soon.

First of all, I am a very picky travler. I hate second-rate accomodations, poor food, etc. Hacienda del Desierto blew me away! I was never more happy with any place I have ever stayed. I stayed here with my wife and 16 year old son. We all loved it here. We visited in mid-August. At this time of the year, the Sonoran Desert has brief, cooling and dramatic thunderstorms. I love that! Let the people with the noisy kids stay at the major-brand hotels with pools and poor rooms. I did that for years with my own kids. This place if made for those people who prefer quiet surroundings. Step outside of your room and stroll through the grounds to experience first-hand some of the beauty and life in this desert. Charming hosts (Rosemary and David Brown) make sure your stay is comfortable and well attended to. Just sit or relax in one of the spas, and listen to the desert. Or, if so inclined, you can visit one of the many nearby attractions (Sonoran Desert Museum, caves, Pima Air Museum, Tombstone, fine dining, etc.). I will recommend this place to all of my friends who have similar romantic tastes as I. I would like to believe that I will visit Hacienda del Desierto again.

For those who want a quiet, peaceful sojourn in the Sonoran Desert, Hacienda Del Desierto is the perfect spot. This Bed and Breakfast is located in a home built by its owners, Rosemary and David Brown, to resemble a Mexican Hacienda, complete with an interior courtyard, surrounded by lush desert vegetation, in an area on the east of Tucson close to the Saguaro National Park, but still only 25 minutes from the downtown area and University.

Accommodations are tastefully decorated in Southwest style, and all are convenient to cool covered sitting areas that welcome you to enjoy the outdoors. The area teems with wildlife, ranging from dozens of varieties of birds for those who enjoy bird watching and listening, to herds of Javelinas, the small desert pigs, and coyotes, in addition to the other smaller denizens of the desert.

Breakfasts that vary each day with different homemade baked delights, fruits, eggs and cereals are served in an inviting manner in the welcoming sitting/great room of the main portion of the Hacienda. Rosemary and David usually join their guests in conversation at breakfast, and are well stocked with suggestions and materials on how to enjoy the area.

Our July 2004 stay was a return to Hacienda Del Desierto for us. Both visits were a great experience.

We have visited southeastern Arizona several times during the past few years. Each time we start our visit at Hacienda del Desierto. It is truly a destination spot for us. As a wildlife photographer I have many fine photographs taken on the property surrounding the B & B. David and Rosemary are great hosts who go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. Each time we visit we stay a few days longer. If This pattern keeps up we expect to be permanent residents at Hacienda del Desierto within a few years.
