“Lived up to the billing”
Reviewed April 21, 2013

We were referred by friends who had stayed at Paul and Mark's a couple of years ago. They had stayed in the Catalina room in the basement so we asked for the same. It was exactly what we needed at the time with a jetted tub, lots of room and a comfortable bed. Breakfast was french toast with strawberries and sausages. The coffee was hot and welcoming. The house itself it very charming and clean. Paul and Mark are very gracious hosts and helped us navigate our way around the city. We highly recommend it. David and Collette

My daughter and I had a lovely stay with Paul and Mark. The inn is centrally located, quiet, and charming. The breakfasts were delicious~really made with love. I will definitely stay with them every time I travel to Tucson!

First impression: We arrived at the Catalina Park Inn to a house that looks EXACTLY like the photo on the webpage. The Inn is very easy to find -- about a mile from the highway. We were warmly greeted, showed around the house and given keys. The Inn is tastefully decorated and everything you could want is at your disposal (refrigerator, iced tea in the afternoons, glasses, ice, wine openers, fantastic oatmeal cookies!). The gardens are incredibly beautiful as well.
Room: We stayed for 2 nights in the West room. The overall space was very nice -- excellent bedding, a flat screen tv and a lovely bathroom. The bath amenities smelled wonderful! The selling point for us was the large balcony. We sat outside each morning with coffee and each afternoon with a glass of wine. Wi-fi worked very well and there is also a computer and printer for guests.
Breakfast: Breakfast is served from 8-9, but luckily, coffee is brewed beginning at 6 or so. The breakfast on both mornings was fantastic. Each breakfast started with a bread of some sort (scones one morning and banana bread the next). Our main courses were excellent (Mexican themed one morning and apple walnut pancakes the other) and conversation was interesting and engaging.
Location: One reason we picked the Inn was its close walking distance to restaurants and shops. The shops and restaurants of 4th Ave were just a short (3 min) walk away. We ate at the B-line cafe and also the Time Market (E on University Blvd). The University of Arizona is about 5-6 blocks east and downtown is also within walking distance, although we did not walk downtown.
Bottom line: Great place and great innkeepers. Mark and Paul work hard to make you feel welcome. Some B&B are a bit too much because the innkeepers constantly want to engage in conversation -- but Mark and Paul strike a great balance. We felt that we were coming and going in our own house and breakfast conversation was casual and relaxed.

Room Tip: The West Room faces due west and the afternoon provides a lot of sun (even with the covered balcony...

Our second visit to the Catalina Park Inn re-enforced our initial visit's impression of it as one the the nicest and most comfortable inns in which we've ever stayed. The hosts are welcoming and knowledgeable. The decor and gardens are beautiful, and fully reflective of the area. Rooms are spacious, filled with sunlight, and clean. Breakfasts are a delight to the eye and taste. The residential area location is central to everything. We walked to the downtown area from there, and also to the university (UA). Access to the major highway (I-10)is only a mile away, for a fast start on day trips. The Fourth Avenue shopping district is a couple blocks away with many unique small restaurants, bars, coffee shops, galleries, and stores. We'll definitely return any time we are in the Tucson area.

The innkeepers Mark and Paul take great pride in their inn, and it shows. They also are savvy marketers, with last- minute deals that let you experience the best rooms in the house at a reduced price. We stayed in a lovely room - the East Room - 2nd floor - with a large covered porch overlooking the park. The service was excellent, without being overbearing. We will definitely stay there again when in Tucson.

We enjoyed 2 nights here in march. Mark and Paul are great hosts and their house is beautifully decorated and furnished. Lots of nice touches like a guest fridge and kettle so you can help yourself to a drink. Great wifi throughout the house. We stayed in the West room which has a lovely balcony. And the best thing is the breakfast!

Room Tip: The west room was great and the balcony is a real plus

Stayed at the Catalina Park Inn for just one night (wish it had been more!). The hosts are so friendly, gracious and helpful with restaurant suggestions. Breakfast was incredible! The stay at the Inn was the best part of our short trip to Tucson. Would definitely stay there again; sure beats any chain hotel.
