“Huge menu with portions to match”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

Claim Jumper is a part of a chain of Landry's restaurants. Their menu is large and diverse, ranging from appetizers to desserts. In between are options for sandwiches, burgers, pasta, and steaks and seafood. All of their food is excellent, and I often have a hard time deciding what to have so as not to keep having the same old, same old. The desserts would feed a family of four easily (except for the small red velvet cupcake - that, one person can consume without clogging their arteries for all eternity). The food is always fresh and hot. However, the last time a friend and I went there for dinner, we noticed a few off notes. First, our server did not take our drink orders (no problem, really, he must have been busy), and when the drinks arrived, the server said, "Enjoy your evening together," which just struck us both as an odd thing to say. Why not, "Enjoy your dinner" or "Have a nice evening?". Secondly, the table was less than clean - while it had clearly been wiped, there were grains of sugar or salt remaining, indicating a less than complete cleaning, leaving us to wonder what else remained behind (believe me, I have seen enough babies in diapers sitting on tables everywhere to wonder ...). FInally, our server, who when he arrived was prompt, seemed in a big hurry. So my rating is an approximate average of 4.5 stars for food and 2.75 stars for service. Nevertheless, this is a good place to go with a crowd and share a lot of different dishes. Just make sure the table is clean.

“Huge portions!”
Reviewed June 19, 2013

We went here with 40 people for a group dinner, and the servers did a great job. There were no issues with the food, and the portions were huge. They have both gluten free and vegetarian options. Nice decor.

“Farewell To A Brief Fling”
Reviewed June 11, 2013

It was a fine romance but it all ended too soon. Precious were the moments and few. Between the hostess and the server the party was over. One lunch was not good, the other was worse.
