“Prickly Bear Rules”
Reviewed February 21, 2013 via mobile

My husband and I had dinner at Gold tonight. I thought it was called The Gold Room but apparently they have changed the name. The address says Ina Road but it isn't really on Ina; you must turn off at the Westward Look Resort. The restaurant overlooks Tucson. Beware that your GPS may tell you have arrived at your designation and you don't it.

Our waitress was Bernadette and she was very competent. She checked back with us frequently except when we were ready for dessert but that may have been because she had a large table. We asked for a recommendation on a semi-sweet wine and she recommended the Pinot Grigio... A good choice.

My husband ordered the ribeye but chose not have the mushroom demi-glace since he doesn't like mushrooms. I opted for the salmon with pistachio crust and balsamic onions. Before our meal arrived Bernadette brought us bread, sourdough and honey molasses. The prickly pear whipped butter that was served with it was delicious.

My husband's ribeye was served with shallot mashed potatoes and green beans. The plate was beautiful with the potatoes displayed in a soft serve ice cream like fashion. However, the steak was thin and over cooked; he ordered medium and it was medium well. The Demi-glace may have prevented the slight dryness.

My salmon, on the other-hand, was superb! It was perfectly prepared and was sitting on a bed of spinach with balsamic onions on top. The onions set off the whole dish and the pistachio crust was good as well.

For dessert we shared prickly pear sorbet that was prepared at the restaurant. We are in Tucson, how can we resist more prickly pear!

“Great outdoor dining experience”
Reviewed January 13, 2013

We really enjoyed our dinner here, good variety on the menu, very friendly staff in spite of a grumpy baby. The outdoor seating with sunset and night view was very enjoyable.

Service - Excellent.. Food - although the menu changes has always been top notch. Views of the city from the outside terrace - best of seen here in Tucson.

“Romantic Venue for Ambience, Service and Delicious Meal”
Reviewed December 28, 2012

The Gold Room is one of our restaurants of choice for a romantic setting, attentive service and a perfect meal. The sunset and view from their location is "icing on the cake." Although their menu is always good, I find their red meat selection to be my favorite. The wine selection will not disappoint and the the service has always been quick and friendly. And, importantly, this is one meal to be enjoyed without a lot of back ground noise and distractions. Always a treat for us to dine here.

“Elegant dining in all ways”
Reviewed December 18, 2012

Fine dining at the Gold Room is a tradition that has been part of my life for 40 years. The history of this restaurant is longer than that. The menu is thoughtfully designed, expertly prepared, with service to match. Whether for an elegant evening, or an infomal lunch, this is a great place and the views of Tucson are unmatched
