“Food is super, restaurant a little tired.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 14, 2012

The Gold Room has been a 5 Star Tucson establishment for many years (tho not now, I think . . . ?) The food is generally very good, well thought-out and prepared and served beautifully. But the whole resort is tired and could use a BIG boost. I will go to The Gold Room again, but I have top notch restaurants that I much prefer.

“Great ingredients, not so great preparation.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 7, 2012

Reading good reviews here I probably would decide to dine in this restaurant even if I would not stay at Westward Look. This dining experience was supposed to complete a serene day at the pool and wonderful spa treatments at the resort. First thing: I visited chef's garden and appreciated all hard work it took to grow greens in Arizona.
Service: I was pleased ...until the desert came in. The waitress listed us a selection of ice cream and brought a different one without asking. They ran out of a chocolate one, so they replaced it with something else. But my husband really wanted a chocolate one and would order a desert if he would know they have none. All it takes to come and ask. Next thing- the girl included service charge in the bill. I don't think it is legal and it made my husband furious. We always give good tip, and it is always related to service strictly, not to the food.

Food.
Carefully selected ingredients! However, I did not understand, what is the chef's problem with souses? There was none on our plates, so the food actually asked to be accompanied with water or wine since it felt kind of dry... I did not have any dressing for my salad except some balsamic vinegar based decoration around the plate. My husband had undercooked pasta (not al dente, but undercooked) which was even worse without souse.
