“When you walk the Desert Museum, you need food and drink”

The fast Food area has a good variety of offerings, and buy a large drink in a reusable plastic cup and get it refilled all day long

“Fresh ingredients, well presented and delicious.”
Reviewed June 9, 2012

The Ironwood Terraces is an enjoyable dining experience with peaceful ambience, good service and excellent food. We time our visits to be able to eat there; so, check to see if it is open before you go. For gourmet food, the price is not bad. It is always wonderful.

“Great!”

Great food and decently priced. It's more like a cafeteria than a restaurant but a cool place to eat at.

“Pretty decent food”
Reviewed February 13, 2012

The Ironwood Terrace is located at the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum. They serve a nice variety of food: salads, hamburgers, pizza, Mexican food (tamales, taco salad, tacos), and wraps, as well as french fries and onion rings. Huge brownies, muffins and cookies as well as ice cream round out the dessert choices. The prices are reasonable and if you have an annual membership to the Desert Museum, you will get 10% off of your bill. They accept visa and mastercard (maybe others, but I know they accept these credit cards) as well as cash. There is a very nice patio area outside to eat at if you don't want to eat inside.

“The best mushroom burgers in Tucson are at the Desert Museum !”
Reviewed May 4, 2011

We are members of the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum and go there often. Have never eaten at their fine dining restaurant on the premises (Ocotillo Cafe), but have always eaten at the Ironwood Terraces quick-serve grill. I am writing a review just for their mushroom burgers as that is what we get each and every time. There are many more items to choose from, and often, we think of trying something else, but go back to the burgers as we just cannot pass them up. They are done to perfection. If you ask for "medium rare", you will GET "medium rare". Piping hot off the grill are these juicy burgers covered with lots of tasty mushrooms. The fries are super delicious also. The staff is friendly and efficient. We see so many foreign tourists there (spoke to someone from Holland yesterday!), and we are delighted that they get such a good impression of this restaurant.
Once you get your food, you can pick your spot as to where to enjoy it. The indoor area is quite nice and cool, but no matter how hot it is, we always manage to find a nice table in the shade outside. Very peaceful setting and many terraces to choose from. Often, just the birds for company.
When one is a "trapped audience" (the only restaurant in the place and nowhere else to go), some establishments really feel they need to make no effort for your business. (Think Disneyland!) The thinking is that you are there, you are hungry, you are forced to buy food here. Not this place. They act as if they have to compete for your business by providing excellent food and great service.
