The reason I decided to write about this restaurant is mainly due to the rude hostess we encountered there. Although the restaurant had many empty seats, she seated us at a table where there was an incredibly loud noise that sounded like a helicopter propellor. I believe it was the air conditioner. It was so loud, we could actually feel the vibration of it and the sound of it reverberated in our ears. We politely asked to be seated at a different table and explained why. The hostess (owner? not quite sure who she was, a middle-aged blonde lady), grabbed our menus and with an exasperated look, turned on her heel and stomped off. We were left sitting there wondering what to do... should we follow her? Where did she go? Was she re-seating us? After a few minutes, we got up and walked towards the front of the restaurant, where she was standing. She did not even acknowledge us, so we approached a different employee who quickly seated us in a different, much quieter section. We could see our original table from across the room and saw the same hostess seat the next couple at that exact same table! There was some chair-juggling from the couple and it was obvious watching them, that they, too, were annoyed by the vibration and the noise that was emanating from that part of the room (although they chose to stay there). The waitress who served us afterwards was pleasant and polite. Food was only average. I did not care for their "special" tomato sauce. My husband said his meal was just OK. It was just insulting to be treated like that in public. We left a tip as it wasn't the poor waitress's fault that the hostess was rude.

Our Party of six was very well attended. I made reservations and our table was ready promptly, with no waiting. (Side note-I find it irritating when I make a reservation then have to wait around for them to prepare a table). Our Server was very quick to get our drinks and offer to take our order. We needed a few minutes and she was back shortly to try again. Every need was attended to very quickly and our glasses were always kept full. The menu is a bit beyond basic, but it isn't Olive Garden so don't expect a book of thousands of choices. Their menu is on their website so you can check it before you make reservations if you have doubts. Servings are large and the specials are great so you can go with a large group without breaking the bank. The Salad bar is very basic. so if you're hoping to have a great salad, this might not be for you. This is a nice neighborhood restaurant, it isn't upscale or fancy it is Good food, Great service and Great Specials.

The menu is basic and the place is a little dated and dark but this place has its own charm and a really great wait staff. I liked the Italian wedding soup and linguine with white clam sauce is quite good. I believe the linguine is homemade. The soup and salad bar is also pretty good. sauces are basic home cooking. Nothing earth shattering but good comfort food.

We have dined at Mama Louisa ‘s Italian Restaurant on a number of occasions. Although we always enjoyed our prior dining experiences, our most recent dinner was somewhat disappointing. Although the soup, salad bar and wine were excellent, complimented by a friendly and efficient server, our disappointment stemmed from the very dull, bland, and uninspiring pasta sauce. Not sure what happened to the sauce; perhaps the chef had an “off night” or simply forgot to include a key ingredient . Nonetheless, it was basically tasteless, negatively affecting the entire pasta dish. We made mention to the server that the sauce was extremely bland; her response was that it is the same sauce they have always served…..I beg to differ, as we have dined at Mama Louisa’s on numerous occasions and never had sauce that tasted so bland.

I’ll give the restaurant a mulligan on this occasion due to our past positive dining experiences, trusting that the chef simply had an "off night.”

Mama Louisa's is a family owned restaurant for many years. My wife and I arrived early for their specials. We had a full salad bar, soup and choice of homemade pastas, many other pasta options, and choice of several different meats - sausage, meat balls, chicken etc., several different sauces including alfredo. Service was very good. The special for the above was $8.25. Hard to beat the specials.
