Stayed two night during a conference at the hotel. Staff was very friendly and extremely efficient to all requests. Room was very spacious and clean. Comfortable bed. Quite HVAC. It's a little out of town for restaurants, but there is one on-site. Conference accommodations were very good, on time. and non obtrusive. The HDMI port on the large flat screen DID WORK! There is not input select, but if you plug your cable into the port on the desk, the TV finds the signal.

Room Tip: Ask for room overlooking the pool and golf course for a better view.

April in Vermont is typically cool and wet with muddy roads and overcast skies. This marks our third spring break spent at JW Marriott Starr Pass in sunny Tucson. Last year we tried the JW Marriott Desert Ridge in Phoenix for something different. While it was big and happened to offer a basketball pool which my boys enjoyed, it lacked the southwest style and natural Sonoran Desert beauty which we love so much...along with amazing staff and customer service. This year we are back at Starr Pass for 8 nights and couldn't be happier. The pools, morning hikes, afternoon golf and restaurants all continue to exceed our expectations as did Toni at the front desk. He checked us in on a busy Friday afternoon and made us feel most welcome with every need accommodated. Kudos to Toni along with all the other personnel! A special shout out also goes to the recreation team who planned and organized the comprehensive Easter weekend festivities. The carrot forest, Easter Bunny arrival and three days full off fun games were enjoyable for everyone. Keep doing what you do so well JW Marriott Starr Pass, and this family will be back.

Went with my daughter and niece for some dinner and drinks. We found Salud which is an incredible place. Wonderful tacos, quesadillas and delicious signature drinks. Our waiter Carl made our experience so delightful! He was attentive and professional but funny and a joy to chat with. He even chased us down to give us a wallet we left! There were incredible views of the lights of Tucson, fire pits, comfy seating and just a general mellow vibe. We were lucky to have a terrific live band playing as well. It was one of those nights where you find it difficult to pull yourself from your seat when it's time to go. We left happy and relaxed. Try it you will enjoy yourself! And, if you're lucky enough to have Carl as your waiter tell him the San Francisco ladies say hi!

This is a really nice hotel with some good restaurants on site and beautiful scenery. If you have a car then it is about a 10-15 minute drive into town. If you do not have a car do not plan on leaving the hotel. Surrounded by a great golf course this is a good place to get away from it all and relax.

Business and pleasure travel have taken me to over 40 countries. I look forward to my several-times-a-year stay at the JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort for its beautiful location amid the saguaro cactus, the excellent service (i.e. among many other great staff, Max and Chasity in Signatures, and Roger in Valet), well appointed/comfortable rooms, and ease of access to the airport and a favorite of mine, the Arizona-Sonoran Desert Museum. After my work day, I truly look forward to relaxing on the hotel veranda and enjoying the traditional toast and free tequila shot at 5:30 (with the ever pleasant server Jack, among others, offering the latest drinks or southwest cuisine creations). With excellent service in its many venues throughout the hotel, a guest can't help but remember dedicated JW Marriott employee names and where to stay the next visit to Tucson..

Room Tip: Great views from rooms overlooking the main veranda and pool areas.

You can't fault the placement of this property - nestled in the scenic foothills just north of Tucson, this adobe-inspired resort incorporates many lovely features of the history and culture of the region. As you step inside, you are greeted by high beam ceilings in the lobby filled with comfy red leather club chairs, blanket-motif rugs and three flavors of iced water (I'm fond of the sage). Not to be missed are the nightly tequila toasts out on the patio inspired by Pancho Villa's drinking contest with his father-in-law-to-be. Finally, every contact one has with the staff is an experience of "customer-centered service" that almost knocks your sandals off. So kudos on all those points, and the beds are pretty comfy (and I'm hard to please).

Here's what to watch out for - hidden costs! The internet (if it's not included) is 16.95 a night. Drinks are in the $15 range and I paid $92. last evening for four drinks and two orders of chips, salsa, and guacamole (including tip). I don't have the figure, but I'm told the breakfast buffet is spendy. My Starbucks grande was 2.75. Again, I don't have the figure for parking, but make your own guess. And...surprisingly, the rooms are rather small, if well appointed. So....my recommendation would be, if you get the room for points, c'mon down and enjoy a lovely family-friendly venue with an incredible pool and great hospitality. If not, be sure to budget for a pretty steady stream of additional costs.

Room Tip: Views to the south are spectacular. To the north you get the a dull hill.
