Just returned from a trip to visit family in Tucson- YEs it was incredibly hot this time of year... so we opted to stay at a resort where we could utilize a pool. We were very surprised by this resort. Extremely beautiful setting. Excellent rooms that were clean and up to date. We had the deluxe view room that overlooked the pool and had a gorgeous views. We also had a package that included breakfast and resort credit. Breakfast was excellent. Choices were plenty on the buffet The buffet was solid and very fresh. Staff was unexpectedly excellent as well. This was a crowded holiday weekend with lots of families and kids everywhere- yet it was all run extremely well and the staff worked hard to keep it spotless and all meals poolside and around the grounds came quickly and with good quality. The excellent experience was really unexpected. The value was incredible since... who goes there in the summer. HA! We did and we will do it again.

Room Tip: View rooms are worth the slight upgrade in price and getting a package with breakfast is also a plus...

I have travelled to all 50 states and 4 countries and this is one of the nicest hotels I've seen. Stayed 2 nights 8/30-9/1/13 in room 6605. The resort is tucked away in the hills of Southwest Tucson, surrounded by beautiful desert landscaping, about 20 minutes from the airport, but an easy drive. The resort itself is very elegant. The floor to ceiling windows as you walk into the resort reveal a breathtaking view. Make sure you get a room with a view of the pool, desert area, and the Tucson city lights in the distance. My room had that view with a Juliette balcony. The rooms are quite large and decorated in rich tans, browns and creams. There is a separate tub and shower in the bathroom. The spa is exceptional, and has a eucalyptus steam room, exercise room, Jacuzzi, relaxation room and a saline pool and hot tub just for the spa guests. There are also cabanas in that pool area on a first-come, first serve basis. After our spa treatments, we were able to get a cabana and had lunch delivered to the cabana. We hung out at the spa pool most of the afternoon, and it was nice to have only adults in the pool. The main pool is very nice and it was obvious the guests with children were enjoying themselves. There is a large patio overlooking the pool and the fantastic desert scenery. They have a complimentary tequila tasting at 5:30 p.m. The patio is a great place to relax, order drinks and appetizers and enjoy the view. The staff is very helpful and courteous and they have a concierge to assist you. It's just a great place to unwind and relax.

I stayed here years ago for a chef conference, so when my daughter decided to attend University of Arizona Tucson for college I couldn't wait to stay here again! My husband, his mom, and our college age son stayed here for 3 nights and took advantage of the lazy river, morning hikes, and complimentary driving range! The driving range was a crowd favorite. A hotel shuttle takes you to the pro shop down the road, where they promptly give you a golf cart and Taylor made golf clubs, iced towels, and extra tees. We got to drive them to the range and hit as many balls as we wanted at no charge! Such a fun daily outing for all of us. They also upgraded us to a gorgeous view upon check in thanks to our Marriott status. They are now 2 for 2 in our book! Would definitely recommend and stay here again.

Room Tip: Be sure to specify whether you want to be closer to self parking garage OR closer to the lazy river...

This resort is a wonderful location with beautiful views, an exceptional staff and a fabulous spa. The restaurants and the outside patio are great. Beautiful swimming pools and lazy river. The bathrooms are very spacious and stocked with wonderful scented shampoo and soap. Don't miss the complimentary traditional 5:30 pm tequila toast in Salud Lounge!

Room Tip: Every room seems to have a great view. Loved the king room overlooking the golf course. That end is...

This hotel was pure class. The staff were unbelievably helpful and polite and remembered our names after a single introduction. The bar had a friendly buzzing atmosphere and a lovely tradition of serving complimentary tequila at 5.30 every evening. There was also a very useful gadget in the lobby - a touch screen search screen of local attractions with printout of directions and maps. We loved this hotel. Breakfast excellent but i'd avoid the restaurants otherwise as they weren't very good.

This spa has a great atmosphere, friendly staff and all the amenities you could possibly want. Comfy robes and shoes, nice locker room, whirlpool, steam room and massage rooms. The cucumber slices and cold cloths for the eye while in the whirlpool.....heavenly! And when its 100+ degrees outside, a welcome respite. You can also make your own take home aromatherapy sachet when you check out. Nice "ladies day out" during our family reunion, topped off by a great lunch out on the patio at one of the hotel restaurants, complete with outdoor misters to cool you off! Try it!

We have stayed here three times previously, but recently stayed across town at the Omni, which had higher ratings. We wont make that mistake again. The environment, views, pool and facility are superior. We are not golfers, so that may swing an opinion another way, which would be the only reason to choose Omni over Starr Pass.
