“Fun place!”
Reviewed November 20, 2013

We had to wait maybe 10 minutes for a table. The food was great. I had the tortilla soup, others had shrimp salad, chicken fajita and burritos. Everything was good and we'd love to go back.

“Fantastic Mexican cuisine in a relaxed slightly upscale atmosphere”
Reviewed November 7, 2013

Absolutely loved this place. Fantastic food in good size portions that is authentic. Had fajitas although there are so many tasty things on the menu. Although we had to wait for a bit to get a table relaxing outside on their wait chairs were just fine. They also have a decent size bar to wait if u wish. There are a few TVs as well to catch the game thats on. But by far this is probably some of the best Mexican food i have had from around the country. Oh and the desserts are just fabulous. Try the churros or apple pie chimichanga. Our waiter was busy but still very attentive and helpful with the menu. A real winner in Tucson.

“Great service and Food”

Their special beef is excellent. Had the platter. The four of us all had great meals and the waiter was timely and helpful. Would definitely like to go back.

“Never Again!!”
Reviewed October 22, 2013

We were hosting a reunion of long time friends, most of whom were from the eastern United States, and had wanted to have them enjoy Mexican cuisine, Tucson style and not Tex-Mex. We made reservations approximately 10 days in advance for a party of 18. The manager showed us a seperate dining area where we would be seated away from the main dining room. One hour prior to our reservation time someone from El Charro called to tell us that a larger group had arrived and they would be seated in the area we had been shown. There was no place else to seat 18 people together so we had no option but to quickly make other arrangements with another restaurant in the NE section of the city! Never again will we take out of town visitors to this establishment nor visit it ourselves!

“Great for its style”
Reviewed September 20, 2013

Most of the press for El Charro seems to be about being perhaps the best of the traditional US Mexican restaurants. It certainly deserves that reputation. The signature dishes were wonderful examples of that venerable style--pleasant, well developed, well integrated flavors, quick service, large portions for a moderate price. This is not the "hole in the wall" neighborhood secret nor nouvelle cuisine but it's great version one style of Mexican food. Staff very friendly and efficient and accommodating of two children under 6.
