The restaurant at Tanque Verde Ranch is a real hidden gem where you’ll find deliciously prepared food in an Old West setting. I can’t believe more people are not raving about this place.
We recently had out-of-town company and wanted them to enjoy a special Tucson experience. After much discussion, we decided on Tanque Verde Ranch. It had been several years since we’d last eaten there, but remembered the beautiful setting and excellent food.
After a stroll around the grounds to visit the horses and take in the gorgeous sunset, we arrived in the impressive ranch dining room (large fireplace, high saguaro-rib ceilings with large viga beams). Although it was a Friday night in the middle of tourist season, we were surprised that the place was only half full.
We were warmly greeted and shown to our table where we enjoyed an outstanding meal, beginning with drinks from local wineries and microbreweries, through our main courses (chicken with mole, slow roasted prime rib, pasta) all creatively prepared, to the luscious desserts. The menu changes daily. Throughout dinner the service was friendly and efficient.
Afterward we were invited to join the ranch guests for story telling around the campfire. Unfortunately we couldn’t stay, but we definitely will be back another time having rediscovered this very special place.
