“Scary ride but worth it”

Seeing the topography and vegetation change as you drive up the mountain to 9500 feet is truly amazing. From cactus to pine trees and the rock formations are a photographer's delight.

“Always worth the trip”
Reviewed September 25, 2013

This is always a beautiful drive, no matter what time of year it is. They've updated a lot of the viewpoints recently, and it just adds to the experience. The views, as others have said, are incredible, and the first time most people experience this, they find it hard to believe there's a mountain like this in the desert!

I loved the drive, the view, and the change in the weather. When you look out you can see all of Tucson. It has a breathtaking view and sunsets like no other in the world.

“Great afternoon trip in Tucson”
Reviewed September 23, 2013

Was there in September...102 at 1pm at the base of the road. After a few short stops at the top (past the ski lifts) was a blissful 60! The drive up is beautiful, you start in a cactus wonderland after ~4k it changes into a green low scrub looking area. At 7k you abruptly start seeing a proliferation of coniferous and it gets denser the higher up you go.

The drive isn't too scary, long gentle switchbacks. Make sure you have gas as there isn't any to be had at the top...tis 25 miles or so each way.

The top had beautiful views of Tucson and beyond. There is a nice little ski restaurant that serves sandwiches and craft beer. In Summerhaven - a little village - there is a cute store that sells yummy but pricey cookies...worth it though as a treat.

Great way to spend an afternoon, comes highly recommended.

“Mt. Lemon is cool!”
Reviewed September 22, 2013

Especially when it's HOT in Tucson! The drive to the top is not for the squeamish, but the views along the way are incredible. The road twists and turns along the way and much of time your on the edge of mountain. If you want to escape the heat of the desert, head up to Mt. Lemon for an afternoon. You can stop at many places along the way and take pictures or go for a hike. Check out the amazing rock formations or go for a picnic. Don't forget to stop and breathe in the pine trees when you reach the top! Sit for awhile, take in the ambience and cool off!
