Beautiful scenery from any and all vistas. At the 8000 foot elevation there is a dear little shop worth visiting... The Living Rainbow or The Caring Rainbow. Really worth a visit. the owner is as charming as her store. No need to worry about the road; it is well cared for and has guardrails all the way . Breathtaking and such a short distance from Tucson.

What amazed me the most about this road is that you start in the desert with 100+ degree temperatures and as you drive up the mountain the scenery changes. At the very top it was 70 degrees and ancient Ponderosa Pines.

The ride up is great - very unexpected scenic views - and so much cooler than Tucson below.
For birders, it's a great spot to see some great birds - Yellow-eyed Juncos, Grace's Warbler, Red-faced Warblers, and even Olive Warblers at the top. Check out Rose Canyon campground and the incinerator ridge trails, but every pull-off, picnic, and campground can get you some nice stuff.
Very enjoyable even if you're not interested in birds.
If you're in the area, go - you won't be disappointed.

This is always beautiful! The changes in scenery and going from cactus to pine, as well as incredible rock formations on the drive (there are lay bys, so you can safely stop & photograph). The town of Summerhaven at the top of the drive is very pleasant - enjoy a treat! Perhaps a ride on the ski lift? Fun for the kids of all ages!

Well we were quite unprepared for the beauty of this road up Mt Lemmon. There are tons of places to pull over, enjoy the peace and the stupendous views. What was great was that the higher you got the closer you could see the road high above you! Well worth driving this road - really different!
