“Great drive”
Reviewed March 18, 2013

This is a fantastic drive from the desert to 8000 ft elevation. There was still a lot of store in the village of Summerhaven at the top of the drive. There is a restaurant there that serves great pizza and homemakes 10 inch chocolate cookies. The views are spectacle. Highly recommended.

“Experience Topography at Various Elevations”
Reviewed March 17, 2013

The drive goes from the Tucson valley to 8,400 feet elevation. You may start out in Tucson with 80 degree temperature and be in a snow squall at the top of the mountain. All the way to the top you'll experience the different rock formations and flora of each elevation change. Despite the elevation gain and the curves in the road, it is very safe.

“A must see when in Tucson”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

What a gorgeous road this is! The rock formations are unusual as well as spectacular. If you are an amateur geologist like I am, you will really enjoy this ride. There are several good hiking trails along the way: Gordon Hirabayashi (formerly known as "Prison Camp"), Green Mountain, Box camp, Wilderness of Rocks,to name a few. The only village up there, however, is just so-so. Since the big forest fire a few years ago, the area looks barren and uninviting. There is a good cafe called the Cookie Cabin but that's about it. The scenery is what makes Mt. Lemmon attractive, as well as the occasional snowfall.

“Wow.”
Reviewed March 10, 2013

This is one great scenic drive. Lots of pull-outs to stop and take pictures. Beautiful views of Tucson by day and night. Hiking available and one or two bars near the top. I spent a day in Tucson and this along with the Saguaro National Forest are musts for outdoor enthusiasts.

“Take the drive to see how the vegetation changes with elevation”
Reviewed March 7, 2013

Plenty of great viewpoints and short hikes from the car. Several bicyclists were making the climb to the top - I will try it next time (didn't have enough time). Skii area at top of mountain. Also a good restaurant for lunch in nearby summer resort community. Well worth exploriing.
