The first time we dined we had mixed reviews we didn't have reservations and they were not very accomodating making us wait at the bar with little to no communication as to when we could get a table (a monday night). By the time we were seated we didn't want to love our meal because we were annoyed at the snobby attitude. We however loved our meals and the waitress was great.

We went back a few days later and ordered one of the same meals again and tried a different meal.
The different meal was just ok and the same dish we had ordered the first time we dined was nowhere near as good. Our waitress wasn't as good as the first one (forgot an appetizer, didn't check back enough for wine refills and we think she may have contributed to our food not being as good - one dish was served luke warm and not hot).

The atmosphere and prices are good and the portions are big.

I am not sure they qualify as #2/781 in Tucson due to the inconsistent food and service we received.

Beware to make reservations regardless of the day of the week and if you don't beware of a snoody attitude "it's doubtful you will get a table later on so we would advise you to eat at the bar".

A friend told us about this restaurant before we took a trip to Tucson. She said it was very good, but expensive. We found it moderately priced -- not a bargain, not over-the-top. The food was well-prepared, the atmosphere nice, particularly for an intimate meal.

We visit the foothills of Tucson each spring from Michigan and have been visiting Vivace for the past 4 years and have really enjoyed it. Last year we noticed the prices really started to go up. Last week we visited and the overall experience was disappointing. The mushroom bisque we both ordered was OK but very bland. My wifes rissoto was dry and lacking flavor. My veal was good but not great like I was use to in past visits. $12 for a grey goose on the rocks, i expect to pay a premium but not be gouged! i don't know if we will go back again.

We stayed across the driveway at the Windmill Suites and ended up eating here three nights in a row. So convenient and delicious food at reasonable prices. Service is a little slow. The chef went out of the way to prepare a vegan version of pasta verde for me and jazzed it up with my favorite vegetables. I appreciated that I could have a delicious meal while my vegetarian friends enjoyed artichoke ravioli, etc. The wine was reasonably priced and enjoyable and the waiter was knowledgeable about our choices. They sell a half glass as well! The main dining room can be loud when full, but the crowd generally thins after one sitting and the activity level drops off. We could converse easily. One night we sat outside on the patio and found that to be a very pleasant choice.
