“Not my favorite, but good.”
Reviewed April 11, 2013

A thrity minute wait even when we arrived a little before 5:00 pm on a Thursday. Great salsa with just a little bit of heat. Ordered a combo plate with two shredded beef tacos, cheese enchilada and rice/beans. Shredded beef was tender and juicy and reasonably seasoned. Cheese enchilada was terrific. Large portions and could not eat it all. Great atmosphere though probably not in the best place in town. Ate at three different Mexican restaurants while in Tucson on this trip, and this was by far the best of those three (El Charro and Micha's were the other two). I will likely come here again.

“Delicious Mexican food”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

Anytime we are in Tucson, we make a trip to Mi Niditos on 4th Avenue. The food is excellent. There is usually a wait but it's worth it. The parking is limited but you can park on some side streets too. Definitely give it a try.

“Great Food, Long Wait, Slow Service”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

Mi Nidito is a beloved Tucson eatery that serves up classic Sonorran cuisine. It has a very festive and fun loving décor. There are few places that serve nopalitos (the tender young prickly pear cactus pad which tastes like a spicy green bean), Mi Nidito serves them right especially in the echilada form with a side of rice and beans, that's a memorable meal. The guacamole is always done to perfection. All of the sauces and the salsa are fresh and delightful. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. They have a fabulous selection of margaritas and if you have room for dessert a mango whipped cream delight.

Mi Nidito has a very good reputation since it has been visited by many dignitaries, celebrities, politicians and the like. They have the infamous "President's Plate" that was relished by Bill Clinton on one of his visits in his Presidential years. Based on that, Mi Nidito draws a huge crowd of visitors and locals who are loyal fans. The best bet to avoid the wait is to go in the summer during the weekdays just as they open at 11am, they are closed Monday & Tuesday. Weekends are always busy.

Service is often quite spotty at Mi Nidito. On my last visit we had to flag down the waiter to get waited on, get our beverages, get more chips with our guacamole, get our check. I view the service issues stemming from the fact that due to the reputation of the restaurant, people will come and having a slow restaurant is never going to be an issue. That is the biggest flaw. I don't even mind the wait on occasion for the food but poor service is not good. 4th Avenue in South Tucson has many different eating choices which are equally good and many local people, including me, more often than not opt for a different venue for great food, no wait and better service.

“Not worth the wait”
Reviewed March 30, 2013 via mobile

Food okay. The wait was over one hour. The food took another 25 minutes. Adult meals came out 20 minutes before my 7 yr old's. Very unhappy with the lack of attention. Will not return, but mainly because it was't worth the wait.
