“Beautiful setting for a nice lunch”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

The Tohono Chul Park is quite lovely and with easy walking paths and the Garden Bistro there is worth trying. We went on a Sunday around 12:30 and it was quite busy. The outdoor patio seating was very nice and the service was good. I think that handling the wait could be improved with handing out the vibrating things as apparently we were called but didn't hear our name so our wait was longer than necessary. The menu was more impressive than the food. It had a lot of descriptive detail and ingredients but the food itself did not live up to expectations; however, it was good...just not special but give it extra points for the patio.

“Disappointed”
Reviewed February 17, 2013

Tohono Chul is a Tucson treasure and the Garden Bistro (formerly the Tea Room) is a lovely and charming place to eat. This was our first visit to the new "Bistro." We were very disappointed with our meal and the beautiful surroundings did not make up for it. The chicken salad had no flavor and there was barely a teaspoonful on the croissant. The egg salad was mediocre in flavor. The "petite" croissant sandwiches were ridiculously small for the price. The hominy soup was delicious, but way too salty. The tiramisu dessert was tasty, but overpriced for the size.. Kudos to our waitress who was wonderful. We'll be back to the park, and we'll give the bistro one more try in hopes that the food has improved. Tohono Chul deserves a restaurant that is equal in quality to the park.

“Afternoon Tea in the Desert”
Reviewed February 16, 2013

In the desert? Really? It's typically not what you think of when you think of afternoon tea. No white tablecloths, no silver tea service or tiered plates laden with crustless cucumber sandwiches - but holy cowboy, is this good. A delicious scone with cream and jam, a slice of seafood quiche served with fresh greens and the most amazing chipotle lime and honey dressing, a fresh mini croissant with your choice of crab, salmon, chicken or egg salad - all with a nice Southwestern kick. Tea is iced or hot, each available in a variety of flavors (white tea with coconut was deliciously different) and they keep it coming. Desserts are small and portioned just right - this is a lot of food- and full of chocolaty decadence.
After a day of anything and everything, this meal was full of unique and delicious flavors, served in a beautiful, peaceful setting by lovely people. It's a destination every time we come to Tucson.

“A special place for anyone and everyone”
Reviewed February 15, 2013

This is the kind of place where you don't mind waiting for a table - if you didn't happen to remember it's the kind of place where it's advisable to make reservations ahead of time. Casual yet elegant, the rooms and gardens of an old Tucson estate are a beautiful setting for simple and delicious meals. It's a given that one will take the time to view the grounds and at least some of the gallery exhibits after dining. Tohono Chul Park is known for it's natural beauty, wildlife and also the art. Get on the mailing list and you'll never lack for a variety of interesting exhibits and events to entice you back.

“Pleasant location but breakfast nothing special”
Reviewed February 14, 2013

We had breakfast on Valentines Day here. A nice table inside looking out on a very pleasant view, but the variety of menu items was limited and the food was not outstanding. We will try it again for lunch when we can eat outside.
