Why, oh, why in all the reviews of this hotel did no one mention cows? When I got out of the car, the smell was overwhelming. I came to check in and HAD to ask, "Is there livestock around here somewhere?". "Oh, yes! The University's agricultural program is right next to us. They have lots of cows.". Yeah, moo-ing and partying right outside of my window! No joke. I am eating the cost of my first night's stay & moooooving across town!

The hotel is very nice for a HIE. Clean, pretty, etc., but cows? Nooooo thanks. If you stay here, ask to be on the non-cow side!

I have staed here 4 times and this is the last! Head Manager is very rude. He acts so arrogant it makes me sick! When I asked he talked down to me as if I was not the customer. I happen to be a platinum member with 14 reservations in place with IHG.
The wireless internet was not working I asked how long and was told a couple days! She kept telling me to use the business center.... um i am writing my reports for work. The staff is lacking in customer service! I am in a room that is looking at a wall which is no problem, but the pigeon poop and broken ladders stored on the roof is a mess!!! Do yourself a favor stay in another one!

Tucson I:  Truly Fine Tucson Lodging - 4 stars

The Holiday Inn Express on Wetmore in Tucson is without question one of that chain's nicest establishments.  Just about everything about it screams "class" and given its location just down the street from the large Tucson Mall, anyone needing to be in the northern side of Arizona's second city ought to look no further for a place to stay.  From the moment that one steps inside the well-decorated lobby, it is clear that this HIE is not just another chain motel but rather, in many ways, on a par with the city's nicest hotels.

Though the suites are -- at least the room at my wife and I had for the three days that we
were there -- on the "tight" side with probably too many separate pieces of furniture crowded into too small a space, this is offset by very comfortable beds and a wireless system that was seamless and easy to use.  Breakfast was simply excellent, very diverse and well-prepared and served each morning in one if the largest dining rooms we have seen in any mid-priced motel/hotel. The hotel's single elevator is somewhat strangely placed and not always fast if one is in a hurry but the hotel staff, to a person outgoing and pleasant, was always willing to help in any way they could.

The HIE on Wetmore has few drawbacks though one certainly would need a car to get to the University of Arizona's campus or any of the many businesses or government buildings in downtown Tucson.  We used the inn as our "base of operations" to tour a large segment of the southern Arizona area and found it a perfect spot in a generally quiet location..  Though it might not be perfect, we'd recommend it to anyone without a qualm.

although we only spent one night at this hotel, we were pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness of the room, the amenities and finishes! quiet, beautiful oasis (in tucson much welcomed) and great staff. although it was proably their busiest night ever (u of a grad) they were happy, efficient and we loved everything about our stay!

Room Tip: facing the pool seems very quiet...back side of hotel vs on main road.

Stayed four nights on business. The room is large, almost a junior suite, with a seating area, desk and refrigerator. The hotel is semi new and what I call faux-nice. Granite counter tops, wood tone formica and decent carpet/tile. Not real upscale but you can tell they put some thought into it and tried to make it nice.
The bed was a bit firm, the sheets a bit crunchy, was ok for sleep quality, not great, not terrible.
The AC is a wall unit that goes on and off all night making for a lot of noise.
There is only one elevator for three floors? It is very slow so that was annoying.
There was a fairly decent breakfast spread with the typical pre-cooked eggs, cereals breads and fruit. The apples appeared to be unwashed with the stickers still on them which was kind of gross.
The staff was decent, the young man working the desk late at night was very unfriendly and brusk although I was able to finally get a smile out of him with a bit of cajoling. He seemed more interested in his movie on his laptop than helping people. The others I came into contact with were very friendly.

All in all, I would probably stay here again as there was nothing glaringly wrong and the price was decent at about $110/night. I could recommend the hotel as well with a caveat of what to expect.
The only restaurant within walking distance is Applebees but there are a lot more near the mall which is only a 3 minute drive.

Room Tip: I would get a room on the ground floor since the elevator is so slow and there is only one.

We stayed on a Saturday night. The rooms were roomy, clean and comfortable. The problem we had was our room overlooked the pool. There were kids in the pool screaming until after 10:30 in the evening and starting at 7:30 in the morning. The kids in the pool didn't wake us up. That fell to the doors slamming, the people upstairs walking around and loud tvs. That started before 6:00. They have a breakfast with a lot more choices of food than most. The problem is none of it was very good. It is all food that is just heated up and set out. All this would have been expected in a hotel that we hadn't paid $150 for one night. Since we were on the opposite side of the hotel from the cows they were not a problem in the hotel. You could smell them as you walked into and out of the hotel.

This hotel is really clean and we received great service from all of the employees we came in contact with. The location is superb. Lots of places to walk to. The Mall and other shopping is right across the street. The traffic was not bad at all. The breakfast room is super clean and organized and Angel, who maintained the food, was wonderful. The pool area is clean and well maintained. They also have a great outdoor kitchen and patio where you can grill your own meals. We enjoyed drinks down there with other people staying at the hotel. The rooms are large and have a small kitchenette, couch and desk. The rooms could use a bit of a facelift meaning flat screen tv's and possibly new matresses. But we were very comfortable. One thing to be aware of....our room faced an experimental farm with livestock. It's well hidden from the main street but you can smell it when you get out of your car. It did not bother us though. It was kind of funny to hear the cows moo in the middle of the city. You really can't go wrong staying here though.

Room Tip: Stay on the third floor. It is really quiet up there.
