Southside is a small Presbyterian Church located in one of the barrios of South Tucson, about a mile south of Tucson's Downtown. It is an unusually mixed congregation with large contingents of Native Americans (mostly members of the Tohono O'odham Nation), African-Americans, Latinos and Anglos. The congregation is very active in the community with service to the homeless and day laborers. Worship is active and lively and lasts about 1.5 hours with one service at 9:30 AM on Sunday. The gospel is preached with a stress on the love of God for all of us and the need to bring the good news of love and liberation and joy into the world. One of the best congregations for any member of the LGBT community. You will be welcomed just like anyone else. Though small and tight knit the congregation is open and accepting of visitors and new comers.
