“Fine food, great service.”
Reviewed January 28, 2013

We've dined Peruvian in the past (Javier's, Sarasota, Fla.) and quite loved it...Javier's is my gold standard, but it is an upscale restaurant in an upscale vacation town.

Don Pedro's was sparkling clean. Waitstaff attentive, and able to answer all our questions to guide us to a very satisfying meal. Food served promptly and hot.

We started with the anticuchos (skewered beef). Loved the sauce and the slices of potato and the choclo (giant kernels of corn).

Our entrees arrived in perfect timing after the appetizer...the tallarin saltado (with beef) was an enormous serving, with the sauteed veggies still al dente, mildly spiced, very good. The other entree was the Saltado De Verduras Con Pollo, a sauteed mix of vegetables with chicken in a special sauce. Again, veggies nicely al dente, pretty presentation, and big serving--we both brought home left-overs.

“What a treat!”
Reviewed July 28, 2012

My husband and I have been wanting to go back to this restaurant after trying it a year ago. I'm not sure why it took so long. The restaurant was clean and comfortable and the service was friendly and prompt. We followed a couple of her suggestions and were not disappointed. The food was served hot and we were in taste bud heaven. We will definitely return, just sooner next time.

“Best Peruvian Restaurant in Arizona!”
Reviewed July 23, 2012

Excellent, Excellent, Excellent! I have to been to all of the Peruvian Restaurants in Arizona, and without a doubt Don Pedro's Peruvian Bistro has been the best out of all. I recommend this place to everyone who is willing to try something different. They have delicious food, desserts and drinks. Defiantly one of my favorites!

“Not as good as Inca”
Reviewed June 16, 2012

Four of us ate at Inca a couple of weeks ago, and wanted to do a comparison with Tucson's other Peruvian restaurant, Don Pedro's. While some parts of the meal were quite good, it wasn't cheap, and Inca does it better. Portion sizes are much larger at Don Pedro's. Service was fast and pleasant.. For appetizers we had what was described as a stuffed potato. It was actually bright yellow mashed potatoes wrapped around some ground beef. It was a bit odd, but tasty. The pisco sours (happy hour prices before 7 pm) tasted more like watery margaritas, and were very disappointing. My husband's seafood platter was not good. The calamari were overcooked and inedible; the shrimp and fish were also very overdone. #31, described only as "Individual," was like fajitas without the tortilla, and our friend rated this as tasty. His wife had lomo saltado with shrimp, but it was just homemade french fries with a few tiny overcooked shrimp scattered on top, although the seasonings were tasty. My lomo saltado was twice the size as the one at Inca, and also featured the homemade fries with beef, which was nicely seasoned and tender. A large serving of rice comes with this, and it was also good, but the huge amount of fries and the rice on one plate were a bit too much. For dessert we tried the flan, a large portion identical to Mexican flan, only with caramel sauce on the side. We did try the lucuma ice cream, two large scoops per serving. Everyone enjoyed that, which we had not tried before. All in all, while Don Pedro's was not bad, Inca was better. I would not eat seafood here, however.
