“The. Best. Pistachio. Gelato.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2013

We were intrigued by the look of the place - with the fancy rotating display of the gelatos. We tried a few flavours and don't remember disliking any of them. My wife loved her chocolate gelato, but I'd highly recommend the pistachio gelato.

I'll be going back here if/when I'm in Tucson again.

“Tasting glory”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2013

The generous sampling allowance is a sweet welcome, especially as myriad choices are all beckoning for a taste. I settled on three this time: cinnamon, grasping the spice with power, kiwi, because who can peel or scoop so many kiwi as quickly as one enjoys this gelato made from the fruit itself and a splatter of spicy chocolate sorbet, the sorbet flavor of the day with a hint of zing wrapped in deep dark chocolate. Be sure to keep your sampling spoons since you will want to share and try those your friends have chosen! I am not a frozen dessert fan, yet I will return for Allegro il Gelato because of its true fruit natural ingredients, smooth creamy texture without overshadowing sugars, and lightness. Make it one of your Tucsonian delights.

“If in Tucson, you MUST have Ivan's gelato! Period.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2013

Ivan is a true Italian and graduated from a gelato school in Italy and crafts some of the best stuff to hit your taste buds ever. He uses only natural, fresh, and high quality ingredients. There are so many flavors that are my "favorites." Some of which are strawberry (which tastes just like fresh strawberries from Central Valley in CA, if you have ever had THAT great taste experience), salted caramel, pistachio, lavendar, chocolate, etc. etc.

The place is small and they have these really cool refrigeration units that rotate and display the gelato. There are also tables outside and since the weather in Tucson year-round is pretty good, that's also a nice place to enjoy your gelato.

Simply, you absolutely MUST try this "Best of Tucson" if you come here!

“Delicious!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

Pleasantly surprised! Not too sweet as some gelato can be, just simple perfection. Lots of flavors to choose from. I'll be back!

“Go here”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

What this place lacks in space and ambiance is more than made up for by the quality of the gelato. My friends who brought me here are Tuscon natives, and they had recently traveled to Italy- and they are convinced that the gelato at Allegro is better than half the gelato they had in Italy. The guy who owns this place got some kind of certification in Italy. A lot of the ingredients are sourced locally. Additionally, he doesn't make up batches and then add flavor. I don't think I've ever had stracciatella. Cinnamon and concord grape are also delicious. As other people have mentioned there are fun innovative flavors too, and the rotating cases and good service make trying different flavors a good part of the experience.
Not a ton of seating! But it's okay.
