I was in town on business and didn't have time to get out to Saguaro NP, so took some advice from a local source and headed to Sabino Canyon. It is convenient to get to and offers lots of options for hiking, biking, and running. The trail system is extensive and there is a paved road/tram for the less adventurous. Gave me a breath of fresh air and a chance to get out and explore the desert.

Easy walking on different trails through the desert, Some wooded and streamside areas too. Go early in hot weather. Folks with bad knees should avoid the short rocky trail down to the stream to the dam. Take the kids, take the dog, take grandpa. Something for everyone. Picnic areas. Terrific nature book store. Very popular place on early Sat. morning when I joined a birdwalk for 3 hours. Parking lot was almost full at 7:00 a.m. Entrance fee is $5.00 per car if you do not have a Sabino Cyn. pass or Golden Age pass.

Beautiful walk and there is a tram to pick you up if you get tired out. Got lots of pictures of little creatures who are not camera shy at all! Just beautiful and worth talking your morning walk out there!

Perfect hike for a perfect day. Beautiful sunset. Bring water.Once you begin hiking it is intoxicating, the sunshine, the topography, the wild horses in the field, the moon rising above the cacti, just a perfect spot.

I've been here a few times with groups to hike challenging hikes. This time I had under 2hrs before heading to the airport. It was suggested to take the Esparanza trail but I found too many forks in it unmarked. Thus, I went to mi 2 and back on the tram rd---still scenic and a good workout! For those that don't want to/can't hike, there's a tram.
