I took my 13 year old son to see the Carnival of Illusion show. While the show is completely clean and appropriate for any age, they limit it to 13 and above to maintain a more adult experience. Many in the audience brought in drinks from the hotel bar. But don't worry, there was no rowdiness beyond laughter and ooohs and ahhhhs. And there was plenty of that! The setting is very intimate, maybe 60 people, which makes for a unique and interactive experience. The magic was fun and as usual, mystifying. But the true fun of the evening was the personalities of the magicians, Roland and Susan, and their smooth, often hilarious interactions with the audience. These two performers are true professionals, and know how to make sure everyone is having a good time. We had dinner at the hotel's restaurant, Cactus Rose, after the show. While the food was pretty good, it was expensive, and the service was way below par, especially given the prices. That may be because we were eating late - 8:00- but if they are going to offer dinner after the show they really need to step up their game. In summary, skip the Cactus Rose, but definitely see the Carnival of Illusions. After seeing so many big production shows over the years, it's a real treat to be in such an intimate setting with performers who obviously care greatly about your enjoyment of the experience. And Harriet Houdini is the best!
