Enjoyed the 1+ hour flight and the pilot is knowledgeable about the area!
We were given the option to help with set-up and tear down of the balloon, and staff is happy to answer questions! A post flight brunch is provided at a park, where we were given a flight certificate.

This is something I have always wanted to do. We were able to help set up and take down the equipment with the crew, who were wonderful and knowledgeable. There was a nice brunch and champagne toast afterwards.

Tucson Balloon Rides was my first experience in ballooning and it was fabulous. Our pilot was knowledgeable about the region, the community and was very informative about every aspect of ballooning. I would recommend it for ALL ages It was a great way to spend a few hours with family and meet new friends!

This ride was with an expert balloonist, Kevin (he also certifies other pilots) who also knows and loves the Tucson area. I chose to do a balloon ride as one way to celebrate my 70 birthday and I wasn't disappointed!! We were well instructed in how to position ourselves to take off and land and constantly got commentary about where we were and what to notice. He took us low over the sahuaros so that we saw wildlife (jackrabbits, coyotes, owls, javelinas) and then to 2000 ft. so we could experience the difference in the air currents. We were up about 1 1/2 hrs. and were allowed to help unpack and repack the balloon (another unusual experience). Kevin and his wife Tammie are local business people who love what they do and do it well. I highly recommend flying with them.

We’d never been on a balloon ride before, but it had been on our bucket list forever. We finally did it yesterday and it was totally, absolutely worth the wait. It even made getting up very early worth it! We were met by Kevin and his crew and driven to the launch site in the predawn darkness to watch the fascinating process of unpacking the balloon, attaching the gondola and the dramatic inflation. We boarded and rose up into the dawning sky. Simply breathtaking. We watched the sun rise over the Catalinas and marveled at the total silence. Planes roar, gliders creak but balloons don’t make a sound (except for the burners from time to time). Since balloons move with the air currents, the passengers feel no wind, the balloon just drifts along affording spectacular views, even occasional jackrabbit and coyote sightings. We traveled nearly ten miles in a little over an hour and rose to a maximum elevation of about 2000 feet above the ground.
Kevin is an FAA certified hot air balloon pilot and his ground crew are pros - a confidence-building team, especially for those who tend to be apprehensive. Kevin explained all phases of the flight in detail and was fully prepared to answer questions. After landing, the ground crew who had been following the flight, packed up the gear and accompanied the hardy travelers to a pretty little park for a nice Mimosa brunch. These guys provided so many unexpected niceties - after flight photos by email at no charge, chilled water, a certificate with flight details of your trip and the lovely brunch.
Balloon rides are fairly expensive, so start saving your pennies now because the whole experience will far exceed your expectations. We had a wonderful time and highly recommend this top-notch company.
(Incidentally, we have no association with Tucson Balloon Rides, we’re just happy travelers.)
